Association Manager’s Corner

The Manager's Message

Dear Homeowners, Summer has arrived, and the community is open for business. We thank our residents for their cooperation in making our pool opening a success. We will continue to work towards bringing a sense of normalcy back to our community, your assistance is appreciated. Just to update the residents on some upcoming items. The Georgia DOT estimated scheduled date to begin phase 1 in front of Sterling on the Lake entrance is early July, this will only be the installation of water lines and not the expansion of the entrance. We will update the residents as we gather more information. The Board has hired an engineering firm to start working on the Lake 3 dredging project. They will be working on the due diligence portion of the project to ensure that we are prepared for the dredging of the Lake when that time arrives. The fences at the Blackjack Road entrance and along Lake Crossing Drive are scheduled to be repaired and painted the second week of July. Please watch for the crews when leaving the community through the Blackjack entrance. A couple of housekeeping notes…. Swimming within the lakes in the community is prohibited due to insurance liability issues as well as the presence of snapping turtles and beavers. With the pool season, residents are using their golf carts within the community. Per City of Flowery Branch all golf carts are to be registered. Please contact the City 4

of Flowery branch to register your cart and receive the proper documentation. Please do not let your children that are not licensed drive the carts through the community, we have had several reports of children driving too fast on the city streets and as we continue to grow this becomes an ever growing concern. The kayaks are available for use by the residents at the clubhouse during business hours, Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Come by the clubhouse to submit the liability waiver and to receive the lifejackets and paddles. If you have a kayak or canoe and would like to use it on the Lake, please submit the boat registration to receive the required sticker for your boat. Residents have been working overtime on their home improvements. We want to remind everyone that if you are doing any landscaping enhancements, painting your home changing the paint color of your home, adding a fence or putting in a pool, etc, please submit a Design Modification form, a required document, and the $75 modification fee prior to performing your home improvements. We strive to fully open the community while complying with the local government’s regulations and appreciate everyone’s cooperation during these times. If you have any questions, please email me at tquinn@cmacommunities.com. Regards,

Tammy Quinn,

Community Manager for Sterling on the Lake

SOTL Lakes and Trails Committee

The SOTL Lakes and Trails Committee has a new webpage on the Sterling-Life. com website. We're working to develop information and resources to enhance the enjoyment of our beautiful community lakes and trails. One of the new resources on the webpage is a Trail Guide that provides useful information on each of our newly named trails, and there's a separate map showing the location for each trail. These documents are in PDF format so you can review them online or download them to your device to use later. We're just getting started with the Lakes and Trails webpage and we'll be continually updating it with new information and resources. If you have suggestions for the webpage, please send them to lakesandtrails@sterling-life.com.

The Lakes and Trails Committee needs your help with managing our lake's waterfowl population. There are signs asking residents not to feed the ducks and geese, but they are not noticed or ignored. Feeding geese and other waterfowl bread and crackers is a common pastime for many adults and children, but many people do not know that this can be harmful to the birds, as well as the environment. Bread, crackers, popcorn, and other high-carbohydrate foods are like junk food to waterfowl. They provide very little nutritional content and can cause the birds to become malnourished. Feeding geese bread can also contribute to the spread of disease. Wild geese have plenty of healthy food in their habitat to sustain them. Let the geese find food on their own so that they and other animals in the environment can stay healthy.

Pet Reminders If you are a pet owner, PLEASE keep in mind the following good neighbor tips. 1. Make sure that your pets are collared and have an identifying tag so that if they do escape, they can be returned to you. 2. Make sure dogs are on a leash, if not on your property, including when on common area. Dogs may not be off leash at any of the amenities, any time, including the lake, walking trails, and passive parks. 3. Make sure cats are not creating a nuisance for your neighbors. 4. Bring barking dogs into the house immediately. Remember Hall County animal control Ordinance states a dog is a public nuisance if it makes any vocalizations for more than fifteen (15) minutes without interruption or more than thirty (30) minutes if the vocalization is intermittent. 5. Always clean up after your pet when not in your own yard, including when on common areas (periodically remove waste from your yard as well to prevent health and odor problems). 6. If you are being bothered by a nuisance animal, I recommend first speaking with the pet owner in a pleasant, nonconfrontational way. Explain your position and try to reach an amicable solution. If a satisfactory solution cannot be reached, contact Hall County Animal Control @770-531-6830 to file a complaint.

NASHVILLE Music City Adventure

Trace the deep and revealing history of country music, beginning with the music’s earliest folk roots, moving through minstrel and medicine shows, examining the advent of recording and radio and the early days of the Grand Ole Opry, through country’s continuous rise in popularity, and the emergence of today’s major stars. As you tour the two floors of the museum’s gallery spaces, you’ll follow the evolution of the music within the context of American history.

JOIN US AS WE EXPLORE MUSIC, CULTURE, ARTS, FOOD AND SHOPPING IN MUSIC CITY!

Visitors experience the country music story through a rich and diverse mix of displayed artifacts, rare video footage, and carefully selected sound recordings. Informative biographical panels and supplemental audio tours tell the stories of those who have shaped the music, from Jimmie Rodgers and Hank Williams, through Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton, on up to Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire, and beyond.

August 17, 18, 19, 2020

More than a hundred artifacts from contemporary artists such as Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Keith Urban are on display in the interactive gallery space. Visitors of all ages will discover connections between country music’s past and artists of today. They will have the chance to engage with interactive stations, recording and songwriting areas, interactive music trivia stations, a forty-foot guitar that kids can enter, and more.
