hen you are a loved one is faced with a decision to enter a nursing facility, many thoughts race through your head. Some of those answers to your questions can be answered by your doctor, case manager or the admissions department at a nursing facility. I can tell you the answers to some of your questions by simply interviewing a guest. At Mountain View, a Nursing and Rehabilitation Center we refer to patients as our “guests.” Whether you are coming to visit us for short term rehabilitation or to make our home yours we are here to serve you. We interviewed one of our short term rehabilitation guests who has stayed with us for approximately four months as the following are her quotes. “I was fearful of nursing homes when it was recommended from my doctor that I needed surgery that would require a lengthy rehabilitation stay. My fears were quickly diminished when I entered the building. I was greeted by the admissions team, that new my name and my family members. I was walked to my room and introduced to the staff and my new roommate. I found myself quickly talking to others that

were like me. My residence was newly renovated for those individuals in need of short term rehabilitation. I thought to myself I need to try this to see what it is truly like in a nursing home. I went in with the attitude, “It is what I make of it and everyday is one step closer to home. The surroundings were beautiful. I found myself participating in daily activities such as church services, rosary prayers,

bingo, socials and enjoying the entertainment of many singing groups. I enjoy sitting out in the beautiful courtyards listening to the running water of the waterfalls and watching the rehab bunny, Gunter frolic in the rose bushes. I receive compassionate care and treatment from all the employees but most importantly the nursing staff. I was nervous about what “therapy” would actually be how-
