In this article, we’ll be exploring the size difference between men and women, and why this must play an important role in how a program is structured, and what you should be learning in an effective women’s self-defense course. In fact, this one factor is so important, that everything else that we could talk about is centered right here. So, let’s examine something that’s of vital importance if you’re to survive an attack on the street, in your home, or anywhere else. And it’s this: Scientifically-speaking, if you were to stand a man and woman, side-byside, and they were, all things considered: • the same Height • same Weight • same Build, and...
• the same Fitness level... The man would still be TWO AND A HALF TIMES STRONGER THAN THE WOMAN! Please understand this is not my opinion. Nor is it coming from any position of bias or male chauvinism. It’s scientific fact. It’s the way we’re designed – as human beings. And, while there are exceptions in the world, suffice it to say that anything you do to defend yourself against a male attacker, must take into account that you will be doing so from a position of relative weakness - not superior strength. This means the best situation you, as a woman, can hope for is that you and he will be the same size. So... here are a few strategies and ideas to even the odds and give you a better advantage. • 1) Learn to use strategic positioning. ursing facilities are becoming the choice for short term rehabilitation care. As we enter 2014 skilled nursing facilities are becoming more sophisticated with the type of care guests are receiving. No longer are you being treated by nursing staff and physicians but entire team of licensed individuals specializing in a specific area of treatment. It can seem overwhelming at times to have so many individuals taking care of someone. The following are just a few examples of therapists that you are likely to encounter. A Physical Therapist (PTs) will meet with an individual regularly to help restore mobility and strength
of patients. Through exercises, massage and equipment, a PT can alleviate pain and restore functioning. They also teach families and patients how to transfer from beds, chairs, cars and toilets. An Occupational Therapists (OTs) help patients perform the activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, using the bathroom, cooking, dressing and doing basic household chores. They can assess the home and identify ways to make living at home easier and safer. They also are trained on how to show patients how to use their assistive devices to help with their daily functioning. Respiratory Therapists (RTs) evaluate,
treat and care for patients with breathing diseases. They can administer oxygen therapies, manage mechanical ventilation and administer breathing treatments to help patients breath better. Speech and Language Therapists help restore speech communication and though processes.
They also can help with breathing, swallowing and eating. Nutritional Therapist and Registered Dieticians assist in developing nutritional plans for patients that lack certain vitamins or need to gain or lose weight. They can also help in healing open areas and wounds on patients. Patients and fami-
