To help foster a renewed interest in learning, the Milton Area School District and the Central PA Business & Education Association would like to give area students a greater awareness of the careers that may be available to them if they stay focused in school. From 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, the 5th Annual Spring Career Awareness Fair will be held at the Baugher Elementary school in Milton. Please, consider participating in this effort to light a spark in area youth. It takes a healthy partnership between Business & Education to empower the workforce of the future. Lunch is provided.

The goal is to have as many different occupations represented at the fair as possible, including post-secondary and military. Representatives from the various industries will be asked to briefly talk about their profession with the students as they progress through the fair. They should not go into a lot of detail about the demand, education and benefits, but focus on what they do and why they are passionate about their jobs. If there is more than one representative for a given career, you may be asked to focus on a specific aspect of your job so the students don’t hear the same story repeatedly. In addition to the fair, the goal is to provide a “Touch a Truck” component. In the parking lot, we would like to have several vehicles that would be used in occupations. It would be great to see farm tractors, fire trucks, well drillers, utility trucks, etc… This will certainly capture the attention of the young students. 5/14 Stacia Abernatha played the Listening Room Wednesday, April 25th, at The Exchange Straight from the heart of Williamsport, Pa., Stacia Abernatha sings in an eclectic array of styles in genres, with her passion in Blues/Americana. Stacia performs each song with grit and soul, delivering unique takes on traditional Blues and original R&B tunes, with some of her music taking on a Rockabilly/Country flair. She recently performed at the Billtown Blues Festival and on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, at the International Blues Challenge, making the semi-finals. Last night, Stacia made her Listening Room debut, performing the first set on her acoustic guitar and the second on her recentlybuilt solid-body resonator guitar -- built for her by Listening Room veteran Sean Farley. With a voice that ranged from rafter-shaking to soft and sweet, Stacia pleased the crowd here immensely, and she richly deserved the standing ovation at the end. Committee Hosts an “Our Roads” Prioritizing Session On Thursday, May 17, at 7:30pm At Earl’s Bicycle Store on Fairground Road Over the last few months in response to growing expressions of public concern about traffic conflicts on local roads, Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg has held both a Listening Session and a Report Back to hear concerns from the public on the subject. This month, the public is again invited to a meeting to focus on walking and biking as part of our transportation network. The goal this time will be to review existing maps of specific sites for improvements, update the list, and prioritize it on the basis of current information. The maps we have were created in 2015 and there have been substantial changes made in the community since then which significantly affect traffic patterns. Walk It! Bike It! Run It! Drive It! and above all speak up! This session will again take place during the May evening WIBI meeting timeslot on the third Thursday of the month. That will be on Thursday, May 17, at 7:30pm at Earl’s Bicycle Store on Fairground Rd. You can find the facebook event by looking up WalkItBikeItLewisburg.org. There is also a post on the Lewisburg Neighborhoods website at www.bit.ly/WhoseRoadsWIBI (case sensitive). In addition, the WIBI Prioritizing Meeting will be preceded from 5 to 7 that same evening, in the same location, by a drop-in open house to review and provide input on the regional Bike/Ped Plan currently being developed through the SEDA-COG MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization) and the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership. That plan covers a seven county area and will help guide development and focus attention on critical network gaps moving ahead. To weigh in on the online survey, please visit tinyurl.com/regionalbike-ped. Anyone

and everyone is invited to both sessions. There is no need to have taken part previously. Walk It! Bike It! and the regional bike/ped planners would like to hear your perspective and think together about best routes forward. Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg reminds everyone that we all have a role to play in making our streets safer. Walk the Walk and Drive the Drive today! http:// lewisburgneighborhoods.org/walk-the-walk/ Contact: Samantha Pearson, Lewisburg Neighborhoods Corporation, 570-523-0114 or elmstreet@dejazzd.com.
