Anyone who lives in Snyder, Union, Northumberland, and Montour counties that is 8-23 years old and would like to join the SUN Area Dairy Princess Promotion team as a Miss, Maid, Ambassador, Alternate princess or Dairy princess please contact Ashley Wetzel at (570) 539-8625. You either have to own your own dairy animals, be dairy farmers daughter or son, related to a dairy farmer, grandparents or parents worked on a dairy farm, you work on a dairy farm, or just have an interest in dairy. The Princess is required to travel to all the counties at different events and promote the dairy industry during her year. They are also required to present a present a skit and speech at the SUN Area and State Dairy Princess Pageant and attend a three day seminar from July 9-11 at Elizabethtown College. The alternate princess is required to present a skit and speech at the SUN Area Dairy Princess Pageant and either attend seminar with the princess or mini seminar with the dairy misses, maids, and ambassadors. Dairy Misses, Maids, Ambassadors, and Alternate Princess are to help the Princess at different events and cover for her when she is not available. Boys can also join but can only be ambassadors. Goat people can also join. SUN Area Ag Dairy Days will be taking place on May 16-18 at the Middlecreek Valley Antique Show along Old Coloney Road in Selinsgrove right beside the Snyder County Prison. There will be kids games Friday

Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host John L. Moore, author and story-teller, at its monthly Coffee Hour in the Community Room of the museum. The obscure, but important role that the West Branch Valley played during the early years of the French and Indian War will be the topic of Mr. Moore’s lecture. Moore is a Northumberland writer who specializes in telling true stories about real people and actual events on the Pennsylvania Frontier. Moore will tell how French soldiers based in the Ohio River Valley and their Indian allies used a forest path that followed the West Branch from Lock Haven, Williamsport and Sunbury when they came east to raid the Pennsylvania settlements. At the same time, patrols from Fort Augusta at Sunbury came up the West Branch to scout and to occasionally attack Native American
