munity College. Lyra is 15 years old and entering the 10th grade at Mifflinburg Area High School. She has been in 4-H for 7 years, following her sister into the program. Lyra enjoys projects where she can express her artistic side. She has completed projects in photography, archery, cooking, rocketry and a tie dye project. Lyra has also served as a camp counselor at Camp Brule’. This past summer, Lyra was in charge of the evening programming at camp. Lyra is a member of Girl Scouts where she recently earned her silver award for restoring the Mifflinburg Academy Cupola and a member of the Children of the American Revolution as well as the Pennsylvania State Chairman. Rigel is 11 years old and entering the 6th grade at Mifflinburg Middle School. He has been in 4-H for 2 years and after listening to his sisters tell

Willow, Rigel and Lyra Bechdel at Camp Brule
how much they liked 4-H, he decided it was time to join the fun also. Rigel is a member of Good Time and the Lucky Clovers 4-H clubs. He has completed projects in archery, global gourmet, rocketry and photography. Rigel also attends Camp Brule’ and was such a great spokesperson for the camp, he talked me into going this summer. Archery is his favorite project and he has worked hard to improve his skills. He says in the beginning, he could barely hit the target but now he is shooting nice groupings and even competed in the District Shooting Sports competition earlier this year. Rigel is in Boy Scout Troop 520 and is a member of the Children of the American Revolution. Rigel also serves as the Pennsylvania State Chairman for the C.A.R. All three of the Bechdel children are Revolutionary War reenactors along with their mother.

Willow, Lyra and Rigel are the children of John and Leanne Bechdel of Mifflinburg. Willow is 17 years old and a 2015 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School. She has been in 4-H for 8 years. Willow joined 4-H after a friend recommended the program to her. She went to a meeting and soon joined a club. Willow belongs to the Lucky Clovers and Good Time 4-H clubs. She likes to do cooking and archery projects and has served as a camp counselor at Camp Brule’

Willow is currently the Vice President of Programing for Good Time 4-H.
