WVIA’s “Our Town” series comes to Bloomsburg: “Our Town Bloomsburg” will be a “day-in-the-life” one-hour video scrapbook focusing on the people, places and happenings of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, as seen through the eyes of its residents. All Bloomsburg residents are encouraged to attend the first “Our Town Bloomsburg” community/volunteer meeting, Wednesday, September 10th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Caldwell Consistory, 150 Market Street in Bloomsburg. Residents will discuss which landmarks, events, and local stories the program should feature. WVIA will answer questions about the project during the meeting and ask volunteers to brainstorm a list of subjects and events to videotape. Then on Wednesday, September 17th, at 6:30 p.m., WVIA will hold a second community/ volunteer meeting at the Consistory. During this meeting volunteers will participate in a whiteboard session to determine the stories to be told in the program and which stories each volunteer will videotape to create “Our Town Bloomsburg.” WVIA hopes to recruit 20 to 25 area residents with personal camcorders. Fair Days Ahead!
The largest fair in Pennsylvania and one of the largest on the East Coast, Bloomsburg Fair has become a local institution for 159 years. This year’s fair, held September 20-27, offers up the traditional exhibits as well as the Toyota Grandstand entertainment line-up including: ZZ Top, Newsboys & Britt Nicole, Ryan Pelton as Blake Rayne in Pieces of My Life, Chris Young and many more. In addition to the bandstand, visitors can find free live entertainment daily at the bandshell. Bloomsburg Fair preview day on Friday, September 20, will be “LUCKY FRIDAY POP” for Reithoffer Shows. Just “Pay One Price” of $13 for unlimited rides the entire day. Tickets can be purchased at any Midway booth. The $13 POP is only valid on Friday, September 20. Reithoffer’s will also offer two other POP days, on Tuesday, September 24th and Thursday, September 26th for a day-long wristband. The special price will be posted at any Midway ticket booth.
