The brochure follows common paths used for exchange, communication, hunting, and war for Native peoples for centuries before the arrival of the European settlers.

f your garden is a source of food for your family, a way to beautify your home’s outdoor spaces, or a gathering place for parties, you already know how beneficial your outdoor hobby can be. But a garden needn’t only be a human habitat.
If you cultivate it right, you can encourage beautiful wildlife to become regular visitors to your garden all season long. Here are some tips to get started: • Plant native flowers, shrubs and trees to give local wildlife the proper sustenance they need
to survive. Skip flowers bred strictly for size and color and opt for highnectar yielding flowers instead. • Incorporate birdfeeders into your garden. Not only will they look great, they are an excellent supplemental food source for your feathered
friends. And you can keep furry friends at bay with a squirrel-proof feeder. • If you build a water source, they will come (and stay). A pond or birdbath will help prevent birds from eating and going in search of water. • Birds need cover to protect themselves
from predators. Planting densely with a mix of smaller trees, shrubs and beds of annuals and perennials will do the trick. • Avoid pesticides. These chemicals are potentially harmful to you and your family, and the same goes for wildlife. Also, by killing garden
pests, you will eliminate a primary source of protein for birds in search of nourishment for their migration ahead. With a few tweaks to your garden, you can create an eco-friendly habitat for the birds and the bees and everything in between.

tions intermixed with an array of instrumentally driven electronic pieces. A sonic blend of synthesized keys mixed with sub-bass, distorted guitar, harmonized vocals, samples, and a multitude of drums, cymbals and percussion combine to create what the band describes as “street music.”

n conjunction with its summer quilt exhibit, Packwood House Museum will host noted quilt expert Susan Reich on Saturday, July 7. Her program, “Quiltmaking Through the War Years, 1941-1945,” will begin at 7pm in Marlow Hall on the RiverWoods campus, just north of Lewisburg between Route 15 and the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. The program is free of charge but donations are gladly accepted.
Originally from western Pennsylvania and now a Connecticut resident, Susan Reich has been quilting since childhood and is a recognized authority on American quilts. She is a member of numerous quilt organizations and has curated quilt exhibits in a number of venues, including the New England Quilt Museum and the National Quilt Museum (Paducah, KY). Susan is the author of numerous articles and books, including World War II Quilts.
Susan will share her expertise on WWII quilts at this program. She has noted that thousands of quilts were produced during the war, including donations to the Red Cross and Bundles for Britain, fundraisers for numerous drives during the conflict, and quilts that look just like any other quilt made between 1920 and 1950. here’s no better way to get to know the people in your community than a neighborhood block party. And nothing spells summer fun more than an outdoor get-together, complete with a potluck style meal, music and games. Here are some tips to make sure your shindig is a surefire success: • Planning a block party is not a job for one -about a month or two in advance, form a small committee of about four or five people and create task assignments to help share the workload. • Be sure to check with community officials such as the local police department regarding any necessary permits you’ll need and to secure a date for the party. • Formulate a budget based on itemized expenses, including everything from big things like a moon bounce to little things like balloons and disposable bakeware. • Encourage one-time use containers to make cleanup simple and avoid the confusion of returning dishes afterward.
