The workshop is also appropriate for spouses and caregivers. Roughly 100,000 Pennsylvanians enroll in Medicare each year.

Many struggle to make the right decisions about their coverage because they do not have clear information. The Medicare enrollment process is complex and there are key decisions that must be made according to strict deadlines. There are also programs available that can help Medicare enrollees save money. Beneficiaries are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get information from highly trained people who will offer unbiased advice. To register, please call 570495-2384. For more information, visit Northumberland County Agency on Aging website at www.ncaging.org. 12/9 The Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Period for 2018 will be from October 15th to December 7th. During this period each year, Medicare beneficiaries can join, switch or drop their Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage coverage. Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage plans change the coverage and costs each year, so it is important to review your plan and compare it to others

on the market that are available to Union and Snyder County residents. APPRISE, a free health insurance counseling program for Medicare beneficiaries residing in Pennsylvania, will have counselors available during the entire Annual Open Enrollment Period. These unbiased and friendly counselors will help you understand your options in comparing Part D and Medicare Advantage

Their first album was released in August of 1976, and featured the hit songs More Than a Feeling, and later Long Time, although nearly the entire album still

Lewisburg River Town Team announces River Town Planning Meeting

Making Women Feel Comfortable & Confident 115 Main Street Montandon, PA 17850 FACEBOOK.COM/GROUPS/JORDANNAADAMS Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM

The Lewisburg Neighborhoods Corporation will hold a River Town Public Planning Meeting on Wednesday, November 14, from 6 to 8pm at the William Cameron Engine Company Training Facility (at 5th and Buffalo Rd). Please join us for pizza and planning that evening. The public is invited to participate in this close look at the potential of the publicly owned land along waterways in Lewisburg Borough. As with all River Town Team activities, this event is open to anyone with an interest in the community’s connection to the Susquehanna, whether or not they are residents or property owners in the Borough. The Lewisburg River Town Team began in 2014 as a col-

laboration between the Borough, the Lewisburg Neighborhoods Corporation, and the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership, all working closely with the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership. A kick-off public meeting that fall established the priorities for the group: events, conservation, planning, and connectivity. In the years since then, the Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg group evolved out of the connectivity piece, the Green Team out of the conservation component, and the River Town Team more broadly has carried on with events like Picnics in the Park and cleanups in addition to planning. As a companion and complement to this fall’s public meeting, we are working with students

from both Bucknell and Penn State. Alexandria Chomyn is a fourth year Landscape Architecture student at Penn State and she is working on rendering the sketch plans created after the last public design workshop in spring of 2016. We were able to get her assistance thanks to a grant from the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds. In addition to that design work, we are also working with Ainslie Eck, a Bucknell senior studying Anthropology and Environmental Studies. She is working on collecting oral histories related to the impacts of flooding in Lewisburg. If you or someone you know has a story that should be recorded, please contact Ainslie at ase008@bucknell.edu or 781-812-6003. The major focus is on the 1972 flood, though if you know anyone with a memory of the 1936 flood, that would be great. Also people who were acutely impacted by any of the flash flooding along Bull Run in recent decades should feel free to reach out. This might also include people in industries like construction, banking, or insurance who can report on local changes in response to flooding over time affecting their business and outlook. You can contact Ainslie at any time, but she will also be at the meeting on the 14th if you want to check in about whether and when to submit your account. In addition to the interviews, we are also interested in collecting other documentation from past floods, such as photographs and films. The 50th anniversary of the 1972 flood will be coming up in a couple years and it would be a good idea to try to pull these materials together in advance of that milestone. This upcoming planning meeting will look at public sites as diverse as Wolfe Field (along Buffalo Creek), the Community Garden, Soldiers Memorial Park, Mariah’s Garden, Lewisburg Landing (including the St George St boat ramp), as well as referencing private sites like the River Walk south of St George St and the Bucknell Landing. It will seek to make sure we have all the best ideas pulled together especially in light of recent and evolving developments like the County Trail Authority taking over the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail and the construction of the Central Susquehanna Valley Throughway. We will work together to establish priorities and a critical path for the process moving forward. For more information about this event or the Lewisburg River Town Team in general, please contact the Lewisburg Neighborhoods Corporation at 570.523.0114, elmstreet@windstream.net, or LewisburgNeighborhoods.org

To view an eye-opening two-minute trailer of a new documentary about the lives and experiences of 14 deaf young adults who use listening and spoken language, go to www.thelisteningproject. org. Identified at an early age, these young adults benefitted from the early use of cochlear implants and hearing aids. The 35-minute documentary is a joint product of award winning director Irene Taylor Brodsky and audiologist Jane Madell, Ph. D. Dr. Madell is the former director of the Beth Israel/New York Eye and Ear Hearing and Learning Center and clinical professor at both New York Medical Center and Albert Einstein Medical College. Many of the 20 to 30-year old adults who appear in the film were first identified by her as deaf when they were infants. As D. Madell says, “See what is possible for deaf children and adults with today’s technology, and listen to what they have to say.”

Need help understanding Medicare?

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Medicare is full of pitfalls! It’s no exaggeration to say that one mistake can impact the rest of your life. Yet most people get confused, throw their hands up, and do all the wrong things. They do what their friends or neighbors did without looking further. Or they see a TV commercial that seems nice, call the number…and buy whatever the person on the phone is selling. The problem is that no matter how great someone makes a plan sound, there are always alternatives, and the person on the phone isn’t going to tell you about them. Would you call an 800 number and buy a Yugo because someone made it sound like a Lamborghini? Of course not! So why “wing it” with something as important as health care? I don’t just offer ONE plan. I offer LOTS of them, and I can help you navigate their pros and cons to find what works for YOU. Believe it or not, your Medicare decisions MATTER. I can help, and meeting with me is always FREE. Adding Quality to Life Everyday! Hi! I am Charlie Laudenscher. I am the ear in every picture you see in Jennifer’s advertisements. But I also have hearing aids that provide me with great hearing. My new hearing aids are digital and wireless. They even have Bluetooth and I can control them with my phone. I recommend these hearing aids to everyone. Check out the new hearing aids for yourself so you can hear better too. -Charlie Laudenscher

I love my new hearing aids! No moisture problems, easy use & charging capabilities & we are all loving the blue tooth capabilities. My wife can even read again without leaving the room! There has been a cricket outside in the tree all spring & summer, I could never hear it now I can! I thought it was a bird or a cricket…but it’s a frog! I’m so happy I can hear nature again!

-Woody Ward Burlingame

I literally had the best customer service with Jennifer at Artisan Hearing Technologies. If you have hearing issues that need attention, I highly recommend you see Jennifer at Artisan Hearing Technologies. You will surely be 100% satisfied as I am with your experience.
