Can you feel the brewing excitement of gatherings and festivals and the ability to travel beyond borders to see and explore? Freedom is riding the wind, caressing your cheek and calling you to breathe deeply that sigh of relief. Is it really over? Has the battle been won? The world is opening back up and the summer sun is dialed up on high. As we move back into normality, we are being asked to feel into what the future looks like and how we will continue to be diligent and kind with ourselves, our health and the health and feelings of those around us. The world around us has changed. We as humans have been changed by this pandemic. Although I have longed for the world to return, I am also hoping that we have learned from this experience. Has time in quarantine been a blessing that we can all learn, grow, and heal from?
I pray daily that we have learned to share more compassion and love towards each other, that we have come to an innate understanding that we are human beyond race, color, gender or political or financial standing. We are HUMAN and we are in service to one another. So embrace your summer, breathe it all in….. every moment, every connection, every experience. Remember that each day is a blessing and love lives within us all. Be kind and compassionate to every human you encounter. Give yourself love and grace and have patience as the world puts its pieces back together. Carry forward what you have learned and honor your battle scars, and as Michael Franti would say, “STAY HUMAN”

reason that I do believe in tomorrow is that humans are so powerful, we have both the power to destroy and the power to build up and regenerate. We have seen the power of humans to destroy landscapes to turn lush landscapes into deserts and beautiful locations into polluted wastelands. But I have also seen amazing people improve soil and the health of the planet through regenerative agriculture and permaculture, and through these practices, greening the desert, turning wastelands into productive and abundant landscapes, and regenerating our landscapes and soils instead of destroying them. And it all comes back to what is beneath our feet.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR SOIL Cover the Soil Any bare patches of soil between plants can be covered with mulch, plant residues, or by plant cover. This helps to keep the soil cooler, retain moisture and as an added bonus reduces weeds.
Leave roots in the soil There are more micro-organisms in a tsp of soil than there are humans on the planet! Just like our gut microbiome micro-organisms in the soil keep it healthy. Leaving roots in the soil ensures that these microorganisms have food to keep them active and thriving!
Plant with lots of diversity A diverse planting ensures a more robust and resilient eco-system. When we plant a diversity of plants above ground, we give those micro-organisms in the soil a diversity of things to eat below ground as well. That means we get a diversity of micro-organisms that are helping to support the soil and the plants. (So instead of lawns, plant literally anything else)
Minimize soil disturbance The soil is home to many microscopic organisms, such as Bacteria, fungi, arthropods, microarthropods, nematodes etc... When tillage or soil disturbance is reduced, the soil profile and soil eco-system stays intact and does not need to re-establish every time it is tilled. While tillage is sometimes required in an unhealthy soil, tillage is reduced as the healthy soil micro-organisms start to create their healthy and beneficial eco-system underneath the ground.
Reduce or stop the use of chemicals meant to kill or destroy While these chemicals are sometimes

40 yrs ago we had a female crow named Lulu. At that time, I had weaned my son and was feeling sad so my sweet husband brought me Lulu thinking that it would help with my melancholy . It certainly did and that Oct. our Daughter was conceived . My husband brought Lulu to me as a baby so new she didn’t have pin feathers. I put her in a shoe box with a piece of flannel and placed the box on top of the fridge. We didn’t touch her .. we fed her soft dog food every two hours and used an eye dropper for water. I loved how she would lift her bum up so I could put a piece of Kleenex under and catch her poop. Eventually when her pin feathers showed up I would let her step onto my finger while still in the box . I even took her with me in the box if I had to go pick up our daughter at school . She graduated to the back of a chair as her feathers showed up and as soon as she could jump from the chair , I took her outside to the garden . She loved green peas and would stay on my shoulder with a pea pod and pull it open to get at the peas. She was free to be outside but would hop up the steps to the door and tap on the door with her beak to come in. We live in a small town and when I walked down to the grocery store , she would fly above my head about the height of a telephone pole , then wait on the roof of the store and fly back when I walked home. She loved being out in the yard with our 13 mo. Old son and would hop around with him while he toddled around. My husband heard a rumour going around amongst the Christian sect that I must be a witch ,can you imagine ? I wonder what they thought when my husband went for a walk around town one day in his kilt with Lulu riding along on his shoulder . That fall we went away first week end in Sept . When we came back , she was gone. I cried myself to sleep the rest of the week. I like to think that she came back the next spring with her family .

BEYOND THE MASK, THE BUBBLES AND THE W(H)INE by Ang MacDonald
What happens when you move your self-care game beyond face masks, bubble baths and wine? What happens when you listen to your soul and body’s needs making selfcare your own? What happens when self-care isn’t just another item on your to-do list to hopefully check off at the end of the day when you FINALLY find five minutes for yourself where you can actually wash the day’s makeup off your face? To be honest, I am seriously asking you because I am so far removed from having my self-care game on point. What I can tell you is that I am putting in the effort to get this shit figured out for myself. Self-care, helpful self-care can be difficult to implement and seem impossible. Advertisements, social media influencers, etc. would have us believe that self-care is expensive spa days, filling a tub with bath salts or bath bombs that will “take us away” from the weightiness of the world, expensive trips with our friends or Mai Tais on a tropical beach. What I have learned, and hope to share with you, is that self-care is a returning to yourself. I have also learned there are two types of selfcare that we should practice. (I know! I thought the same things...I barely make the time to practice the one self-care I have been taught and now I am talking about practicing two different kinds. Seems unrealistic. It takes practice - um, a lot of practice - but, it is not impossible!) So, what are those two different types of self-care? Simply put: structured and intuitive self-care.
-15-
Structured self-care is simply those things that you need to do for yourself daily, weekly, monthly. For me, that looks like walks in nature, turning on our salt lamps and “twinkle lights” in the evening for a calming, ambient glow, quietly playing some relaxing music in the evening to unwind, and, of course, my regular bedtime routine of taming curls, washing away the day, and hydrating some wrinkles. Those are my standard, daily go-to’s….most days. I aim for 80% success. Intuitive self-care is asking yourself “what do I need right now, in this moment?” Practice self reflection. What is one thing you would love to do today? What is one thing you need to do for yourself at this moment? Try doing something that feels like fire to your soul. Not going anywhere that day? Do your hair, your make-up, put on that outfit that makes you feel like a frigging rockstar! Need a rest? Take the nap! (Moms of littles, I know this one seems far reaching right now but soon...very soon. Or...don’t be afraid to tell a friend or family member what you need and how they can help you achieve that.) Friends, it isn’t selfish to prioritize yourself. We’ve been conditioned to give and give until there is absolutely nothing left, and when we FINALLY offer ourselves the chance for five minutes once a month, our first thought is that we are being selfish. I’m going to get loud for a second. IT! IS! NOT! SELFISH! TO! PRIORITIZE! YOURSELF! Find your center between giving and self-care.
-16-
Giving
O
Your center
Self-care
Having trouble with what you can do for your self-care right now? Here are five things to keep in mind for a quick go-to. 1. Hydrate 2. Move your body 3. Go outside 4. Give yourself a loving reminder 5. Do something that brings you joy I have made a major change in how I view and practice self-care and it all began by happenstance. I don’t recall where I read this but, somewhere in my quest to be kind to myself I saw the following: Several times throughout your day, give yourself a 10 second self-care check in. Here’s what that looks like: 1. Take a breath (or two or three) 2. Sit with yourself for a minute. Look inward - feel where you are in the moment 3. Ask yourself, “What do I need right now?” Allow yourself to observe what you need in that moment and then actually show up for yourself to meet that need. Remember, self-care doesn’t have to always be serious. Have fun! Random kitchen dance parties are common in my house. Lip Syncing battles to 80’s tunes with rolling pins or ladles as microphones are as well. I feel no shame in admitting that to you all. Sometimes, and this is a frigging hard one for me, self-care is saying “no”. Confession time. I have actually had to practice this. It is not our job to be everything to everyone, to sign up for every charity event, board, committee, bake sale…. You get the idea. For anyone who is in the same boat, here are some ways you can nicely, but firmly, say “no”: That doesn’t work for me. I’m choosing to _____ instead. I’m not able to I’m not going to make it but thanks for thinking of me. I won’t be able to No. (Yes, “no” is a complete sentence! This one has been tough for me - very tough.) -17-
How can you give to yourself, family, friends, job, or community if you simply have nothing left to give? Do small, consistent acts of love and care for yourself each and every day and fill your damn cup, baby! It is time to return to yourself. So, beautiful, powerful, strong friends, grab your journal, pens, a cup of tea (or wine) and get cozy; write down some self-care affirmations. (I’ll start us off. I am worthy of the love I give outwardly. It takes time to connect to my needs. I can create balance in my life. I can ask for what I need.) Then, I suggest you complete this reflective exercise: What are 10 things about yourself (that have NOTHING to do with others) and what is a way you show up for others that you could offer to yourself? What is a tangible way for you to practice that today? So, I’ve been a great student and learned a lot of shit about self-care what it is and what it isn’t. I am still in the process of making it a part of who I am and what I do. I believe this is a constant plight in our journeys the struggle between needing self-care and feeling selfish if we provide ourselves with that care... My hope, and intent for sharing this with you all, is to possibly help you on your own journeys. Be good to yourselves. You deserve it.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies Peanut Butter Cookies are my husbands favorite cookie of all time, and since I added oatmeal and butterscotch chips, they are now my new favorite as well. I love oatmeal in cookies; they give the cookies such a great texture, and make them seem a bit healthier. The trick with making cookies, is to beat the sugar and butter for a few minutes until it is fluffy and very well mixed, then when adding the flour mixture, just mix to combine ingredients. Do not overmix the batter once the flour has been added. This batch will make approximately 48 cookies.
! m e h ke t1 cup soft butter a M 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup peanut butter 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 1/2 cups oatmeal 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup peanut butter chips 1/2 cup butterscotch chips 1/2 cup chopped peanuts (slivered almonds are a nice substitution)
1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, peanut butter and sugar until well combined. Scrape down the bowl to make sure everything is well incorporated. 2. Add eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Add vanilla. 3. In another bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, salt, and baking soda. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, and mix until just combined. 4. Add the peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips and nuts. 5. Using a small ice cream scoop, portion cookies on baking sheets, flatten them a bit with a fork and bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes. No Churn Caramel Coffee Gelato I was at an Italian shop with my mom for her birthday and of course we had to have some Gelato for dessert. The salted caramel was my absolute favorite, so I decided to try and make my own at home. Turns out it is amazingly simple to make and is delicious. The base is only 2 ingredients, but you can add a variety of flavors. I have added toffee bits, chunks of brownie and chocolate covered espresso beans. Enjoy!!

THE UNRAVELLING Coach Jennifer Klatt
The time of rebirth is upon us. It has been declared that the pandemic is over and that things are going back to normal. Are you relieved? Are you skeptical? Are you still feeling that pull of doubt? Are you hopeful for a new beginning? If you are like me, you have all these feelings floating around at the same time. This is the time that I am calling the unravelling. This is our moment to decide what is important. The last year and a half you might have felt that tug that your soul has been giving your conscious mind to get your shit together. She has been calling you to find out what really matters. And yet there has been so much fear that has distracted so many from this opportunity to deep dive into what is important. So many are brushing this niggling thought off like it was a mosquito that is trying to get its next meal. If you have gotten caught in distraction, I totally get it. In the last year and a half, I have danced in and out of distraction. I have gotten crystal clear and then become just as confused what seems like moments later. I allowed the unsettled energy swirling around me to pull me into the uncertainty whirlwind. This pull of the collective into fear keeps us stuck, where the only viable solution is to look outside of ourselves to find what is right. We all know that this never works. So, let me remind you.
You are capable! You are gifted with the power of making choices for your own liberation, for your own freedom and mostly to choose what is right to support your highest good and the highest good of those connected to you.
-25-
You and you alone are the only one who can shine your light on your life and decide what is best for you.So what a great place to pause for a second just to notice. Notice when you read this what happens in your body, is there a sense of expansion and freedom or is there a constriction and tightness? This is a cue that when you listen to your body, and not that beautiful analytical mind of yours, you know your truth. This is your moment of truth.
You only have one life in this body, what do you want to experience through it? Things might seem fragile in the outside world right now. Like a whisper might set off a torrent of emotions. This is why the calling to this inner work is so important. If we want to have a chance to understand anyone else, we must first understand ourselves. We must acknowledge our trauma, our privilege, our biases, or conditionings and question it all. Because without questioning it we can never start the healing process. Without unravelling we can never move forward into a new energy. As a collective it is time for new beginnings. This is not a time for sticks and tape to keep holding what is not working together until you have that perfect plan. Before we birth something new, we must unravel the old. The stuck energy, the thoughts, the relationships, the patterns, the accepted norms, the ancestral beliefs that no longer serve your highest good. We must unleash the storm within us that shakes us to the core of our old being to allow the emergence of our soul. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. If you are feeling resonate with this unravelling in your life you will see it
-26-
everywhere. You will get a feeling that you have outgrown things, you might feel caught in situations that make you uncomfortable, you might physically get wrapped up in things. For me I keep watching my new puppy get his leash caught in everything and I have to stop what I am doing and get him unstuck, then I started to look and saw unravelling in my life everywhere. Look at little things that are reoccurring for you, these outside situations are clues to your internal world. And right now, I feel in the collective that it is a time to unravel, acknowledge our personal and collective pain, choose a path of personal healing to rebuilding the type of society that you know is needed right now in this time and space. Right now, as I type this there is a storm swirling in the outside world. There is thunder, lightening, crazy winds and lots of rain. I love analogies and this is a perfect one. Before the storm everything seems ok, sometimes we notice when things are not great. We notice that things are no longer working for us, but there is no impetus to change. But fuck when the storm hits, when we feel the thunder shake us to the core, we know that we can either allow the energy of the storm to move us or resist all change and hold on for dear life with fear as our partner. I know that it is scary to go with the flow of the storm, but having courage as a partner vs fear is so much more empowering.
-27-
I implore you to have courage. Courage to face the storm, to seek the truth, to see the deception. Courage to stand for yourself, courage to choose for yourself, courage to unleash your soul to fully experience this time and space you have incarnated in.
You came here to witness this massive change on earth. This has been a phrase that I have used for myself often. When I believe that I have chosen to be here, in this body, in this time in this physical dimension to witness all that is happening, there is a bit of a softening that happens. I start to breath again and I can remind myself that I only have one life in this body, so how do I want to experience it. Take a breath and ask yourself that question, with the full knowing that there might be some unravelling that you are ready to flow with in order to fully experience what this life has to offer you. If you are experiencing anger, I send you the wisdom to let it unravel within you. If you are experiencing unravelling, I deeply bow to you and the work you are doing. If you are experiencing fear, I send you courage to find your inner peace. If you are experiencing peace, I send you love to share that peace with others. If you are experiencing joy, I send you passion to lead others to this path. Whatever you might be experiencing, know that you are strong and will learn much if you are open to it.

WATER
AN ARTIST JOURNEY INTO THE CREATIVE PROCESS
THE BE BRAVE STUDIO
Water! It is in our human DNA to love the water, we need it, we are born from it. It has a power so strong it can take away anything that gets in its way, yet it brings with it a beauty that is awe inspiring.I followed the stream of my thoughts and it led me to pools, tide pools. I wanted to explore, just like when I am at the Ocean, explore all the cracks and creatures that live and die in these tide pools. Pools are round, luckily, I had on hand round substrates, also took apart some round trays to give me some larger tide pools. I was thrilled with the way this stream was flowing, everything was coming together. I knew I wanted to make the sea creatures out of sequins and beads, stitched with love. As I worked lots of feelings would wash over me, the circle of life especially, life begins in these pools, just like a womb, just like this new beginning I am on.Unfortunately, the circle can only begin when you have an ending, this can be difficult, but it is what it is.Salmon, the fish are a great example of this, they spawn in shallow water and then finish their cycle of life.I also explored using different products together, molding paste, ink, crackle paste, metallic paint and resin, for that real watery effect and glue to attach the stitched sea creatures. My vision turned out just as I wanted, when I look into these tide pools, I can see my reflection, I do like what I see, I am worthy of happiness.

The feeling of Abandonment has been a common thread throughout my life, the mythological water being, Undine, a water nymph who becomes human when she falls in love, but is doomed to die if he is unfaithful, talk about fear of abandonment. Her story reminds me that I am in control of my own destiny, no one can sail this ship for me. That is what led to the painting “Reflection” working through the tide pools, I began to sense a feeling of abandonment lurking in those cracks, I needed to explore another element in the water, the freedom, the journey to newfound adventures. I started the painting the evening of the full moon, it was so big and bright, and I thought about how it would be reflecting on the water and how the moon controls the

tides, high tide would free the creatures in the pools, returning them to the deep water. I love the stories in the painting, the kite is symbolic to me, thanks to Mitla, Mexico, it pulls me forward releasing joy and my adventurous spirit. The moon reflecting into the dark water is a beckon of hope and the ship is my journey to my destiny. Circle of Life. I absolutely loved being in Water, I felt immersed in it. It brought me back to my why, why I am an artist and why I want to share this lifestyle with others, so they too can feel the freedom by jumping in the water. New beginnings.

CONSCIOUS CURE ‘TO HELP UNRAVEL IN THIS NEW ERA By Donna Maltz
The negativity happening in the world can be daunting. Many people say they feel scared, confused, and powerless. They know there is much work to do and that things must change, but they see the multiple colliding crises and question if we have enough time to turn things around. I understand the confusion and the feeling of hopelessness. Besides the usual personal drama, it’s easy to feel like victims of an unsustainable economy and political corruption. We are positioned to race against a catastrophic climate crisis and health pandemic. Meanwhile, we’re amid a storm of global inequality, which is spreading like an out-of-control virus. Who do you
From what I can tell, nearly everyone could use support and guidance to help navigate this evolutionary time. Some might feel anxious or depressed, or complacent, and need additional professional support. Others might feel like a flame, fired up enough to take action and help others. I suggest you spend time every day in Nature, as this is where I go to open my mind to what is possible. For me, COVID-19 has awakened every fiber of my being, heightening the other mutating crises. WHEREVER YOU ARE IN LIFE RIGHT NOW; YOU ARE ENOUGH!! Whatever shape, size or scarYou are unique, beautiful and WORTHY of self love! And you are deserving of REALLY believing and embodying that belief NOW! I felt compelled to find out why women are so easy to hate their bodies and what we can do about it after rejecting myself for so many years. This epidemic of women feeling disgusted about themselves and their bodies must come to an end! It does not serve us and keeps us disconnected from our grace, true beauty & inner radiance. We can all get caught up lusting for the “perfect body” but the real tragedy is when we turn back to the mirror and then shame ourselves for our perceived flaws, lusting for something that doesn't even exist. It's super easy to do, since society has us brainwashed that our true value is measured by our looks. It's super easy to do, since society has us brainwashed that our true value is measured by our looks. But what would it look like if we began to embrace our bodies unapologetically? How many future generations of girls could we affect, if we ourselves began to see our bodies as the holy vessel our soul has chosen to journey with -in all its majesticall FLAW-SOME-NESS?!
"WE ALL GET CAUGHT UP LUSTING FOR THE PERFECT BODY"

I too have struggled with body image, shame & abusive inner dialogue, but have come to the realization that total body acceptance and showing myself grace is a hell of a lot easier to live with than: dressing to hide my body, poking at the parts I hate the most, talking to myself like I’m disgusting or comparing myself to every other woman. Isn't it time to give ourselves permission to embrace our unique beauty, celebrate our bodies & bring a feeling of radical self-acceptance & honor into our thinking & behavior-freeing us from incessant comparison, disappointment, and self-rejection FOREVER?!?
Dear Creator, Please lead me into peace and deep pleasure I allow myself to see my body as safe & sacred as my
