Arts and craft fair with swing in Rojales

Because of last year's success, the Rojales once again celebrates Europe Day in the Ciudad Quesada urbanization, with an Arts and Crafts fair organized by artisans association Amata. On Saturday and Sunday the swing group will return and teach everyone who wants to join in the fun to dance.

On Friday and Sunday there will be a puppet theater, and for Saturday afternoon/evening, the Town Hall has organized a drumming parade (Butakada), performances by the Municipal School of Dance, a Giant Pizza and the fair ends that day with a nostalgic concert of The Liverpool Band with a tribute to The Beatles.

According to the defendant the owner of the house in Rojales had cocaine. They bought 2 grams for a hundred euros and after consuming it they offered him hashish in exchange for more "cocaine", as they had run out of money.

The three were in the kitchen and the victim, according to the defendant, got angry with the owner of the house who took out a knife to cut a larger piece of hashish.

According to the defendant, both were drunk and as the pair started to fight the owner of the house stabbed the 21-yearold young man, who then ran out into the street, and after collapsing onto the pavement, quickly bled to death.

The Prosecutor's Office however, maintained that the friend himself was the perpetrator of the fatal stabbing, alleging that, following the stabbing, he fled the house for fear of also being attacked by the owner of the house.

All through his trial, however, the accused blamed the owner of the house for his friend’s death.

The jury took less than an hour to reach their decision, finding that there was insufficient evidence to convict the accused man.

The investigation was launched folowing an operation carried out recently in Murcia. On information received from Crevillent Local Police, Guardia agents subsequently arrested nine people and seized counterfeit products with a market value of around ten million euros.

The watches were offered to street vendors or local market traders, mostly ëLooky Lookyí men.

The investigators were able to intercept and arrest the main figure under investigation as he was leaving his home in Guardamar del Segura a search of which found nearly 4,000 more fake watches.

The man's partner was also arrested as an accomplice.

And, of course, there will be the usual high-quality stalls chosen by Amata, this time with a the participation of three painters, offering a diverse range of styles and techniques. At this fair there will be nothing that is imported or made in a factory, just more than twenty stalls with ceramics and pottery, soaps, wooden toys and stuffed animals, turned and carved wood, and leather belts and bags, all hand made by the participants. You can watch various artisans and artists at work, or you can make a vase or bowl on the potter's wheel. And if you can't find what you're looking for, the artisans can make it to order.

The fair will be set up around the Plaza Blanca in Ciudad Quesada and the opening hours will be Friday, the 12th of May, from 6 till 9 pm; On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May the fair opens from 11 in the morning until 9 in the afternoon/night (or later), without closing at midday.
