A ‘Pack running’ group is designed to attract college students interested in cross country, harrier events, cross training for winter sports or purely running off study cobwebs with a bunch of mates. These ‘Pack runs’ are leaving the college gym at 3.30 (for up to 40 minutes) on Wednesday afternoons with different speeds, distances and routes being offered. Your teenager can train with mates while covering the beautiful tracks around our town.

It’s getting cold, Wanaka will be gearing up for winter in no time. The town seems pretty quiet at the moment.

Here's a few of the things that have been happening around town: 1. On Sunday, 12th May, a local resident was processed for drink driving.

2. On Saturday, 11th May, another local resident was arrested for threatening a police officer. I've always wondered why someone might consider this a wise idea. Perhaps a little less alcohol might assist some in their decision making skills.

3. On Friday, 10th of May, it was reported to us the 'cow' has been stolen from the weather vane at The Cow Restaurant. If you know where it is, let us know, as staff at The Cow are keen to have it returned.

4. On the 9th May, another local resident was arrested for an historic theft from a local bar.

You may have noticed us running a speed campaign in the school zones and with the school buses, since the start of the new term. The speed for moving past a stationary school bus is 20km per hour, and it doesn’t matter which side of the road you are on. Some are very good at it and some are not. For those who are not: At more than 50km over the limit you will lose your licence on the spot and be off to court.

Have a think about it! In a 100km zone, you only need to be doing 71km before this is you. The speed does some serious damage to an adult, - do I really need to tell you what it would do to a child? They don’t say speed kills for nothing.

Lastly, with the cold and frosty mornings, this means defrosting windscreens, don’t forget.
