Hawea Kindergarten Sparkle Disco

T

his term the children at Hawea Kindergarten have been learning about dance and how our bodies can move to different types of music. Coming up to the end of term we thought that a Sparkle Disco Party would be a great opportunity for our children to share their new skills with their whānau and friends. This was a great night and it was great to see so many families there with their dancing shoes on!

We have also been developing our physical skills with the help of Leanne from Sports Central over the last term. Through this twice

weekly programme the children have been developing skills such as: eye tracking, hand eye co-ordination, throwing, catching, kicking and balance.

Three drink drivers were caught in Wanaka over the weekend.

Two of those stopped blew twice over the legal limit.

The other driver was under 20 Two 18 year old males were arrested on Friday morning outside a local bar after assaulting the doorman and a bystander.

An unlocked car was broken into and searched on Thursday night. Nothing was taken, however it is a good reminder for you to remember to lock your vehicles up at night or when they’re not being used.

Police attended a crash where a skateboarder has been travelling on the road and then swerved into a car, hitting the windscreen and receiving minor injuries.

If you are a skateboarder travelling on the road, road rules also apply to you. So be aware of other traffic, and keep yourself to the left hand side of the road As a result of enquiries two young males were arrested and charged for assault at a party last week.

A Fire Extinguisher was stolen from the Edgewater Resort. A group of teenage males were seen on the property having stolen the extinguisher. This is very disappointing behaviour as it puts other people’s lives at risk. If you know anything about this please contact the station.

Wanaka Police have 1 week to run in the ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign, trying to ensure motorists travelling up the ski fields are belted in. You will see Police near intersections as this gives us good vision into vehicles to ensure people are wearing their seat belts.

The District Plan and Shaping Our Future Council has begun the process of reviewing the District Plan. The plan is at the heart of how this place looks: itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s about the places where we live, work and play including your particular neighbourhood. Keep Left Local drivers are being asked not to cut corners when it comes to safe driving.

A new safety campaign has been launched seeking to remind drivers about the need to keep left at all times unless passing. Large electronic signs are going to be stationed on some of our state highways and police will keeping an eye out for people ending up on the wrong side of the road while cornering or weaving over the centre line.

The campaign is being run jointly by the Council, the Police and the NZTA. Thanks to Fulton Hogan and Wilson Contracting for their help in placing the signage.
