13th Sept: A Wanaka resident was arrested on warrant for failing to appear in the Queenstown court.

14th Sept: A Wanaka resident called to report that she had been subjected to a computer scam after she received e-mails advising her that she had purchased an item using Paypal and that an amount of money was to be debited from her bank account.

14th Sept: Three young fellas travelling in a white people mover were seen lighting fireworks on the road in the Maungawera valley. Things got out of hand a little and road side grass caught fire.

14th Sept: In the evening, officers attended a car crash on Lakeside Road. No one was injured. Enquiries are still continuing.

15th Sept:

Officers attended a domestic dispute.

Officers attended at a Charles Court, Lake 15th Sept: Hawea address where clods of dirt were reported to have been thrown at the address.

16th Sept: Officers attended a car crash on Cemetery Road intersection with Gladstone Road. A female Korean tourist will face prosecution action after she tried to take the 25kmph corner at 70.

Road safety is a focus for the Police at the moment. We will be targeting drink driving, so expect to see check points around town.

Local authorities wish to know how Ruby The Red Back and Terry The Tarantula came to be in possession of an iPhone and laptop.

There is concern that they may be using the devices to organise a large scale spider gathering in Wanaka.

Some spiders are known to enjoy an active social life which can involve building communal webs to house anywhere from a few to 50,000 individuals. Whether or not Ruby and Terry have been inviting their spider friends to visit is unclear but authorities are now monitoring social media site SpiderBook for clues.

The local community is being asked to assist in shutting down any attempt at a mass social gathering of spiders in Wanaka. Please report any spider sightings immediately.
