     Schoolfest returns offering local students access to top quality performances and workshops, and on Saturday 20 April there   will be free entertainment for all the family

he Festival of Colour programme is here and ticket sales start on Monday.

Highlights of this year’s programme include two world premieres, a high energy performance from NZ’s top contemporary dance company Black Grace and a visit from one of the world’s most celebrated investigative journalists – Seymour Hersh.

the lakefront that will be painted on site from 12 to 15 April, and this year Wanaka Rotary have organised a very special art trail – ART at HOME, with all funds going to a sculptural installation.

The hugely popular programme of Theatre, Music, Dance and Aspiring Conversations takes place from 16 to 21 April with performances at the Lake Wanaka Centre, Hawea, Luggate, Masonic Lodge, Puzzling World and Flair Hair Salon. Of course, the Central Lakes Trust Crystal Palace will be back for daytime talks and night time music.

Play Readings!

We’re looking for people to read parts in two new plays.

One is by well known playwright Dave Armstrong and the other by local writer Liz Breslin. To be presented at Wanaka Masonic Lodge as part of the 2013 Festival of Colour.

Auditions will be held on March 2 and 3 at the Masonic Lodge from 10am.

12/02/2013 Two females from the USA were dealt with for the theft of bottles of Vodka from the Mint Bar. 14/02/2013 We had another report of theft from a motor vehicle overnight in the alleyway behind New World. This brings the number to over 10 thefts from vehicles and boats. Please remember to lock up your vehicles, leave them in well lit areas overnight and remove all valuables.

15/02/2013 A 65 year old local male was apprehended cutting firewood from the bank of the Hawea River in the Albert Town Camp Ground.

Please ensure you have the land owners permission before removing any wood.

Police dealt with two local teenagers arguing at the skate park.

A 27 year old Hawea male was apprehended for excess breath alcohol after he crashed his car on State Highway 6. He blew 631 mgm's.

16/02/2013 A male crashed his light coloured Isuzu Big Horn into two vehicles on Totara Terrace, Wanaka. Police seek any information that can assist in identifying the vehicle or driver. Please contact Constable Barham.

Police attended a domestic dispute at a wedding party at Criffel Station, - thankfully it wasn't the newly weds. Enquiries are continuing to resolve the allegations.

A dog was located outside the Dough Bin, and rescued by a local lady, after a group of males fired a BB gun at him injuring his side.

A burglary at a Holly Hock Lane address was reported.

17/02/2013 Two local males committed intentional damage at an address on Meadowstone Drive, pulling out the irrigation system. A 27 year old local male has been charged with wilful damage. His cooffender better come in and resolve the issue, - your identity is known to Police. Please contact Constable Barham.

A 13 year old male apprehended for disorderly behaviour at Wanaka Skate Park.

Offenders have removed all the drain covers off the drains and dropped them into the drains in the Meadowstone area. Very dangerous behaviour!

Wanaka Police attended six motor vehicle crashes over the week.

Three of those were at intersections. Please take care when driving out there.

Two local males were arrested for disorderly behaviour in relation to an incident on the 09/02/2013.
