Wanaka Garden Circle makes 50 years In 1963 a group of garden enthusiasts made the decision to formalise the gatherings of like minded peoples, thus forming the Wanaka Garden Circle. The enthusiasts have been meeting for approximately 50 years; Nola Aubrey recalls attending a meeting at Olive West’s home in 1950!

Along with Nola, Phyllis Aspinall and Joan Robertson, are recorded as early members.

Over the 50 years many garden lovers have been part of this circle and those people have imparted so much to this community in various wayssharing knowledge, giving a helping hand, tidying town gardens, donating and planting trees and shrubs, even dressing up on Snow Festival floats.

They have also organised many flower shows, collected over $5000 which has been reinvested in the community.

On April 10 we are celebrating the occasion with an evening function, a noted guest speaker, and the following day visiting local gardens. We are proud of our achievements and know the club is in fine shape for years to come.
