Did you know your old TV contains hazardous metals and chemicals, such as lead, mercury and brominated flameretardants? That’s why we don’t want to dump them in the landfill, because it can lead to contamination of soil, water and even people. Luckily most Wanaka people understand the urgency of keeping our environment clean, so Wanaka Wastebusters has always received strong support for our electronics waste recycling.

So we’re delighted to be able to offer our community the chance to recycle old TVs

We’ve had a great take-up in the Lakes District, with more than 500 TVs being recycled. But luckily we still have some quota left to fill. So dig your old TVs out of the garage, and bring them down to Wanaka Wastebusters on the corner of Ballantyne and Riverbank Roads. They’ll be recycled safely and responsibly through RCN e-Cycle. Please note that the TV Take Back subsidy is available for household TVs only.

Council Snippets Annual Plan The draft Annual Plan 2013-2014 has been adopted and now it’s time for you to have your say. There are some big issues facing us as a community and this consultation process gives you a chance to tell us your views on things like the proposed Convention Centre, the future operation of our campgrounds, the events strategy and debt repayment.

Zero rates Thanks to savings across the organisation, Council has been able to hold rates steady with an proposed rates increase of 0% (after allowing IRU JURZWK 7KLV ¿JXUH LV DQ DYHUDJH ZKLFK PHDQV VRPH UDWHSD\HUV will get a zero increase, some slightly less and some slightly more.
