KARLSRUHE KONZERTDUO

The Wanaka Concert Society was asked by the German Karlsruhe Konzertduo whether they could perform in Wanaka following their performance at the Brisbane Music Festival, as they had heard warm comments about the Wanaka Concert Society.

The Karlsruhe Konzertduo will perform at the Lake Wanaka Centre at 7.30pm, Wednesday 6 November.

Founded with the cellist Reinhard Armleder and the pianist Dagmar Hartmann, the Karlsruhe Konzertduo, is very successful and in demand world-wide. In the past years the duo has performed on prestigious stages in 80 countries on all continents.

The ensemble has established itself by

winning several international competitions in Italy and France and has the rare gift of captivating and inspiring audiences.

It is regularly highly praised for fascinating its public by the depth of its interpretations, brilliant technique and its imaginative choice of programmes.

To quote praise by a specialist publication “... it is rare to find a duo with such a fortunate and intense combination of a kindred musicality, affinity and interaction with their instruments.”

The race is on to discover who’s at the top of the pecking order at the Rotary Club of Wanaka’s annual duck race on Saturday, 9 November.

The event begins at 10.00am when 1,500 rubber ducks will drop into Bullock Creek near Brownston Street for the race to the nish line at the Dinosaur Park.

This annual event has raised more than $15,000 for the Rotary Club of Wānaka in previous years and club president Alan Richardson says it’s on track to do the same this year.

When a person buys a $5 ticket it is represented by a ‘small’ racing duck.

Businesses can purchase a corporate duck for $100 and enter the best dressed corporate duck competition.

Funds raised will go to the Rotary Club of Wānaka which will then be allocated to needy and worthwhile causes in the community.

Subject to availability tickets will be sold at the Dinosaur Park on race day (Saturday, 9 November) from 8.30am.
