WANAKA UPPER CLUTHA LIONS Congratulations to all team members who participated in our “Walk for our Wanaka Hospice” fundraiser. 55 teams raised $5,500 for the Hospice Trust. The winning team was The Heaton Park Walkers (Judith McLeary, Katrina Kreft, Maree Sandri and Bob McLeary) who walked 3,673,943 steps or 1,836.97 km which took them on a virtual tour from Wanaka via the West Coast and Picton to just before Alexandra on the way back to Wanaka. Well done! In lieu of a catered dinner, the winning team has generously asked that a donation to the food bank be made of equivalent value. Thank you to all the walkers once again for your support and wishing you all a Merry Christmas.

A vehicle parked on Plantation Rd was taken overnight on Sunday and located on Aubrey Rd the next morning. A beer bottle, left inside the car by the offender, was found by Police. He might like to think about coming to talk to us before we come to talk with him. A male was arrested due to his intoxication level and the fact he was trying to get into bars in town early Sunday morning. He was later released and warned. An earlier report of a drunk driver in the same area meant Police going to the same street twice within a 90 minute period. In other matters, Police arrested a male wanted by Immigration and we attended two vehicle crashes, one on Boundary Rd and the other in the Cardrona Valley. This week the new Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act comes into effect with new responsibilities around the supply of alcohol to minors.
