08/09/2013 A week ago on Sunday, Police and Ambulance attended an incident outside the Plunket Rooms on Ardmore Street just before 1.00 am.

During this incident an 18 year old young lady received injuries to her head and nose and her boyfriend received a cut above his eye. Police are at present not able to determine fully what happened and would like speak to the other parties involved, or any independent witnesses to clarify what occurred.

Please contact me at Wanaka Police Station if you can shed any light on this matter. We need to feel it is safe for young ladies to be out in our community.

06/09/2013 Police have been investigating an incident in which three male visitors to town were threatened with wheel braces and a knife by four local youths.

Thanks to the installation of security cameras by the council, we were able to identify the offenders who were known to police.

Police have charged four youths, all aged 18 and 19 years old, jointly with assault with a weapon. We take public place thuggery seriously and will take immediate action to investigate and arrest offenders and put them before the courts.

The Police acknowledge the assistance of QLDC in providing the security cameras in our business centre which are contributing to a safer community.

10/09/2013 Police received a report of theft of diesel from a tractor at Camp Creek, Makarora.

11/09/2013 Police dealt with a driver performing acts of sustained loss of traction in a Department of Conservation parking area on Mount Aspiring Road.

12/09/2013 Police received a report of a suspicious male on Nichol Street, Lake Hawea. This male was riding around on a bicycle possibly looking for burglary or soft theft targets. Please, if you see anything or see anyone acting suspiciously, ring us. Even if the subject's actions are legitimate we would prefer to establish that at the time rather than attend a theft or burglary later.

Reports of such behaviour are treated as gold by police.

13/09/2013 Police dealt with a male for excess breath alcohol when he was located in his car in the Bullock Bar carpark. He blew 930 mgms.

15/09/2013 Police arrested a 21 year old female from Sweden for disorderly behaviour and a 27 year old male from Wales for obstructing police, after an incident on Ardmore Street.

Please drive to the conditions and obey the road signs. Keep on the right side of the breathalyser limits and do not drive under the influence of drugs.
