Wanaka Public Libraries Association (WPLA) supports our libraries in the Upper Clutha community.

Our picnic on 10th of November honoured all the librarians, former and current. The librarians were treated to lunch in an atmosphere of appreciation and family fun.

There were three arrests for the week.

On Monday night we were called to a family violence situation in Lake Hawea. As a result a 41 year old male was taken into custody and appeared before the Queenstown Court on assault charges.

We also executed a search warrant at a local resident's house looking for stolen property and drugs. As a result a 38 year old male will appear in the Queenstown Court on Possession of Cannabis Charges.

Another male was arrested for breaching his bail conditions.

There was just the one suspected drink driver apprehended this week. A blood sample was taken from him. This is a timely reminder that one of our main Road Safety focuses leading up to Christmas will be for drink drivers. So please remember that well used phrase; "Expect to be breath tested anywhere, anytime".

On 14 November we received a report of a stray bullet (apparently a .22) penetrating an outside wall of a guest house on a Lake Hawea rural property. In recent times these types of incidents are becoming a common theme.
