Rippon Celebrates 10th Festival Wanaka’s own Rippon Festival is New Zealand’s longest standing music festival, promoting Kiwi music at Rippon Vineyard since 1997. The not-for-profit organisation has donated over $80k locally and is thrilled to be celebrating their 10th festival in 2014.

The Lake Wanaka SouNZ crew is comprised of over 70% ex MAC students and staff and has a tasty line up in store showcasing local, ex-local and national talent including Danny Fairley and Martine Harding who take to the main stage as ‘Arma del Amor’ for the first time in 2014.

Well we’re starting off another Christmas season and I see plenty of Christmas decorations creeping into the stores and homes.

Let's not repeat other years of carnage on the roads and public areas.

Here is a snippet of some of the incidents we’ve dealt with this week: There were two bikes reported stolen from Hedditch Street on Sunday night where the offenders have picked up a sign separating it from the bikes and taken a white and pink bike and a black and red bike.

We located two youths on the roof of local premises. This is a very good way to get arrested or hurt. If it’s not yours leave it alone or stay off it. Unless it's found property of course then you will be handing it in to the police.

We went out to the Glendhu Camping Ground to settle a dispute between the campground and some users of the beach area.

A male is going to court after being arrested on Ardmore Street when he became agitated with police. There is always a consequence for bad behaviour.

There was an historic complaint of two ramps stolen from a woodshed in Studholme Road.

We assisted with a fatal vehicle crash in the Haast area on Monday involving a motorcycle and a campervan. Our thoughts go out to the families of those involved.

Last December and January, 359 people were seriously injured on our roads and 57 people were killed. These numbers are unacceptably high and we have had an awful run in the area recently. Let's tidy up our behaviours behind the wheel. Speed, restraints and alcohol are going to be targets, so don’t be surprised if we deal with these heavily over the coming period.

It makes my day when I look for tickets to write or people looking to get arrested and come up blank.
