Broadway Guide Insider: Nobody knows New York City like a local. Some of the city’s notable locals are also the stars of Broadway. We talked with Casey Likes who stars as Marty McFly in Broadway’s Back to the Future about his favorite places in New York City.
j Fox’s iconic performance to the stage combined with my own personality. Skateboarding, DeLorean Driving, and singing all the way!
How did you get your start in performing, and in what other shows have you performed?
Likes- I started performing on stage when I was three years old in a production of A Christmas Carol, where I played Tiny Tim with my real mom, Mrs. Crachitt. Although technically, my first job was a Goodwill commercial a few months prior. My mom was the person who introduced me
to performing. She planted the seed in my head, and it grew into the rest of my life. Last season, I was in Almost Famous on Broadway in the lead role of William Miller.
What is your favorite Broadway show to see as an audience member?
Likes- I will say that being in the audience of Jukebox shows like Moulin Rouge and MJ is very special because they bring new audiences to Broadway because of the music that they include. Very cool to be a part of crowds like that discovering the power of theatre.
What are your favorite NYC local tips?
Likes- Assuming that people are reading this as first-time New Yorkers, please just walk fast. Maybe not even fast, just at least briskly. I’m from the West Coast, too. I get it, but I had to learn, so girl, get ready to walk.
If you’re going out for a night on the town in New York City, where would you go?
Likes- You don’t wanna know—but probably somewhere in Hell’s Kitchen.
Where are your favorite spots to send family and friends when they visit?
Likes- The Hotel Edison Diner, anything on Restaurant Row (46th Street).
What is your favorite meal to enjoy in NYC?
Likes- I am a big fan of Springbone Kitchens’ Grandma’s Chicken and Rice. Amazing. Also, Bareburger
