Westfield Farmers’ Market Seeking Vendors and Musicians The Westfield Farmers’ Market will continue in 2019 as a Community Outreach Project of the Episcopal Church of the Atonement in Westfield, and will remain on the grounds of the Church at
Sunday. April 28, 2019 - 15 36 Court Street where it has been located for the last seven years. The Market will continue to be held on Thursday afternoons, rain or shine, noon till 6:00 pm, May 30 through October 10, 2019. The mission of the Market is to provide affordable, healthy food to the greater Westfield community and to support local agriculture. Thanks to a private donation, SNAP customers receive a match on their purchases each week up to $5; some vendors accept FMNP and WIC vouchers. Vendors say the Westfield Farmers’ Market is one of the premiere markets in the Pioneer Valley, having grown from 7 to up to 35 vendors in the last 4 years. The Market Committee is seeking to expand the market to add a larger number and variety of vendors, and is now accepting applications from vendors for the 2019 season. Subject to Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources regulations governing all farmers’ markets in the Commonwealth, the Westfield Farmers’ Market will accept locally grown produce and items made from local agricultural products, and will continue to be a certified participant in the Massachusetts Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program. Vendor fees are structured according to the level and frequency of participation. Rules and Regulations and Applications are available on the Market website at www. westfield-farmersmarket.net. The Market Committee is also pleased to announce that they are the recipients of a grant from the Westfield and Massachusetts Cultural Councils to partially fund live musical performances at the Market each week. To Advertise Call 413-562-4181 Arrested? Now what? What happens when someone is apprehended and placed under arrest? That’s the new Talk of the Town program airing on Westfield’s Community Public Access Channel 15, according to the program’s creator, host and executive producer Roberta Page, president of Page One Productions, LLC of West Springfield. Talk of the Town went on location in 2018 to the Westfield Police Department to follow from the time a cruiser with a prisoner is at the department’s
garage door opening until the prisoner is released from detention. Community Police Lieutenant Eric Hall assisted with the narration. Westfield Police Officer Juanita Mejias graciously served as the handcuffed “prisoner” and Officer Douglas LaValley as the “arresting” officer. The program will start airing the week of March 25th and will continue to air Sundays at 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., Mondays at 11 p.m., Tuesdays at 10 a.m., Thursdays at 5 p.m., and Fridays at 7 p.m. time slots and
