MACHINE DE CIRQUE
Wednesday, April 25, 7:30PM • FAC Concert Hall
After surviving the apocalypse, five men must build a machine to help them find other survivors. They’ll do whatever it takes to navigate this brave new world without electricity, telephones, computers … or women. The results are anything but grim. You’ll find yourself a guest at a deliriously intoxicating party—part circus, part slapstick, part rock concert. Hilarious, heart-tuggingly nostalgic, surprisingly moving, and a whole lot of awesome, this show will make you stand up and clap for humanity. French prix fixe dinner available at the UClub before the show. • Details at fineartscenter.com/prixfixe.

Trivia Night 2018 Russell — What is an Ursus maritimus? Do you know? Answering questions of all types could win your team of up to 10 players, cold, hard cash! But you must come to “Trivia Night” on Saturday, April 7th, at the VFW in Russell, where the doors will open at 6:00 PM and the game will start promptly at 7:00 PM. There are other ways to win as well. Decorate your table and vie for the prize for Best Table Theme (optional). A 50/50 raffle will be held as well. A cash bar will be provided and contestants are encouraged to bring their own food for munching. Outlets will be available for warming trays and crock pots. For a second year, the “Grocery Band” will provide live entertainment as answers are corrected and scores tallied. This is a popular event with tables available on a first come, first served basis. To reserve a table today, call 413-862-4048 and leave a name and phone number. Walk-ins are welcome and
have the option of playing alone or teaming up with others. Cell phones are not to be used during the games. $10 per person is your cost for entrance to a night of challenge and frivolity. “Russell First”, a group of citizens, sponsors this event annually as a way to raise funds that help benefit community organizations and town departments’ needs. (Oh, by the way, an Ursus maritimus is a polar bear!)

WESTFIELD — On Thursday April 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Westfield Senior Center, 45 Noble Street, will be transformed with thirty-five exhibitors participating in the Senior Options 2018 event. All regularly scheduled programs will be suspended for the day. Older adults and their family members will have a unique opportunity to discover the multitude of services available to them regarding physical and emotional health, overall safety and wellness, housing options, and active lifestyle opportunities for older adults. The Massachusetts Equipment Distribution Program, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, the Senior Medicare Patrol Program, the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, Baystate Home Health, Mercy Hearing Center, the Westfield Fire and Police Departments, Westfield Gas & Electric, Highland Valley Elder Services, Baystate Noble Hospital, Mercy Adult Day Health Center, Westfield’s assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, and Whip City Travelers are just a sampling of the organizations that will be represented at the event. Local legislators will be available to discuss participants’ ideas and suggestions. Senator Donald Humason will be collecting worn-out or damaged American flags so that they can be disposed of or “retired” respectfully. A hearty ‘Grab and Go’ brown bag meal will be available for purchase as participants leave the event. A Chinese drawing will offer plenty of gift options for participants. In addition, drawing tickets will be sold in advance at the Senior Center as well as at the event for the grand prize, a “Westfield Dining Gift Card Smorgasbord” featuring gift cards to six different Westfield eateries, donated by Firtion Adams Funeral Service. Senior Options 2018 provides an ideal opportunity to obtain valuable information regarding an array of services available for older adults in Westfield. There is no admission fee for the event. Please note that the Senior Center will close and the doors will be locked at 2 p.m. after the event is over so that the staff can clean up and set up for Friday’s activities and programs.
