Massachusetts law currently allows teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 to visit tanning salons with consent from a parent or legal guardian. Children under 14 can only use a tanning bed if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Senate approved the bill last year.

February School Committee meetings Huntington – The Gateway Regional School Committee will hold two meetings at the Gateway complex during February.

The School Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, February 10 and on Wednesday, February 24.

Both meetings begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the junior high school’s double room (rooms 214/216 on the second floor of the JRHS).

School Committee meetings will continue to start at 7 p.m. through the adoption of the FY’17 budget in March.

If school is cancelled or

released early due to winter weather, the school committee meeting scheduled for that date might also be cancelled. Please check the district website if unsure. (This happens due to travel conditions and to keep the parking lots clear for snow removal.)

Ward 2 polling locations changed WESTFIELD – On Thursday, by a vote of the Westfield City Council, the polling locations for Ward 2 Precinct A and Ward 2 Precinct B have merged into one location. The new Ward 2 location for all future elections is at the new Westfield Senior Center located at 45 Noble Street. There will be proper signage to direct voters to the actual voting location within the building.
