Stanley Park Sunday Night Concert Series: “Eight to the Bar” On June 2 come and enjoy the great sound of “Eight to the Bar”. Listening to Eight to the Bar is a lot like driving along a time-warped highway precisely halfway between Count Basie’s Kansas City and Fats Waller’s Harlem, where the car radio picks up everything from Jumpin’ at the Woodside to the Andrews Sisters. Their material, like their outlandish wardrobes and onstage choreography, is a colorful mix of forties jazz and swing, fifties jump blues, and some of their own swinginfluenced tunes. With their female and male vocals, saxophone (their sax player, Collin Tilton, is Van Morrison’s original sax and flute player who played on Morrison’s quadruple-platinum-selling Moondance album), guitar, bass, keyboards and drums, this unique sextet pack a musical and visual wallop not seen in New England since the group’s inception in 1975. Since that time they have released 12 CDs and have excited audiences from Europe to the Caribbean. The band has been named “Best All Around Band” by the CT Now Readers’ Poll 2018. This performance begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Beveridge Pavilion and it is free of charge. Chairs will be provided and a food service will

The Wild Goose is coming to Sacred Heart Parish The Wild Goose Bible Study, Discovering a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit featuring Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR. This is a study with no written homework, this is a study that is solely spirit filled; that will lead you to a place of mercy, healing, peace and presence. Along with the study we will have Praise and Worship Music Ministry to bring us further into prayerfulness; when we sing his praises, we are praying twice! The Wild Goose is a term that the ancient Celts had for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has been given to us to lead us to the heart of God. This study will take place on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:00pm in our Parish Center. You will have an opportunity for fellowship and light refreshments. There is no charge for this bible study and everyone is welcome to come. A free will offering would be graciously appreciated to offset any costs. Please contact our Pastoral Minister, Deb Briancesco with any questions at 786-8200 ext 3. Free food cupboard at the Easthampton Congregational Church The Easthampton Congregational Church holds a free food cupboard for people in need on the second Wednesday of each month. Everyone is welcome. If you have questions, please call the church office at 413-527-4790.

Pound at the YMCA of Greater Westfield The YMCA of Greater Westfield is offering the fastest growing group fitness phenomenon inspired by the sweat-dripping, infectious, energizing fun of drumming! POUND is a full body cardio jam session championed by fitness rebels around the world. Pound is the brainchild of Kirsten Potenza and Cristina Peerenboom, California-based former drummers who set out to fuse conditioning moves and cardio interval training with the distracting fun of drumming. Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. Designed for all fitness levels, POUND provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! The workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to all abilities. Sweat, Sculpt, & ROCK with POUND at the YMCA on Thursdays 6:30PM and Saturdays at 9:15AM. There is no charge to seniors for the service which is funded by the Westfield Community Development Block Grant, Sarah Gillett Services for the Elderly, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, and private donations. “Side By Side” Support Group at the Westfield Senior Center The Westfield Senior Center’s “Side By Side” support group meets on the fourth Friday of the month from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and is open to any senior who is a little overwhelmed with the stresses of life. Whether an older adult is dealing with health problems, the loss of close family members and friends, or caregiver responsibilities, the support of others, often “in the same boat,” can be most helpful. Participants chat informally over coffee or tea and all discussions are strictly confidential. Please consider joining the group as a “regular” or a “drop-in.” For more information, call Tina Gorman at the Senior Center, 562-6435. The Westfield Senior Center is located at 45 Noble Street. Nursing Services at the Westfield Senior Center Nursing services are available at the Westfield Senior Center, 45 Noble Street, thanks to the generosity of Baystate Noble Hospital. Mary Ellen Asher, RN, is at the Senior Center Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon and can assist older adults with blood pressure checks, medication review, blood glucose testing, and one-to-one health education. There is no charge for this service and no advance appointments are necessary.
