MEDICAL COUNCIL OF INDIA HAS FORMULATED CERTAIN MINIMUM STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO MBBS COURSES. THE OBJECTIVE OF THESE REGULATIONS IS TO PRESCRIBE FOR A MEDICAL COLLEGE AND MEDICAL INSTITUTION APPROVED FOR FIFTY ADMISSIONS OF MBBS STUDENTS ANNUALLY (IN OUR CASE), THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF A C C O M M O D AT I O N I N T H E COLLEGE AND ITS ASSOCIATED TEACHING HOSPITALS, STAFF (TEACHING AND TECHNICAL BOTH) AND EQUIPMENT IN THE COLLEGE DEPARTMENTS AND HOSPITALS. THERE ARE TWO PARTS OF THIS ASSIGNMENT. ONE IS DESIGNING THE MEDICAL COLLEGE AND THE OTHER IS DESIGNING THE HOSPITAL (THE MINOR AND THE MAJOR PROBLEM – IN THE UNIVERSITY PARLANCE). FOR A TEACHING HOSPITAL OF 50 INTAKE, A 350-BEDDED HOSPITAL HAS TO BE PROVIDED.

THE DESIGN TEACHING HOSPITAL
A TEACHING HOSPITAL IS AFFILIATED WITH A MEDICAL SCHOOL, IS USED TO TRAIN DOCTORS, AND OFTEN IS INVOLVED IN RESEARCH. AT A TEACHING HOSPITAL, WE MAY ENCOUNTER MEDICAL STUDENTS IN THEIR FINAL YEARS OF STUDYING AND WHO ARE TRAINING IN PATIENT CARE. WE MIGHT ALSO ENCOUNTER FELLOWS OR RESIDENTS WHO HAVE GRADUATED FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL AND ARE TRAINING IN A SPECIFIC AREA OF MEDICINE BEFORE THEY GO ON TO THEIR OWN PRACTICES. SOME RESIDENTS ARE REFERRED TO AS INTERNS — THESE DOCTORS ARE IN THE FIRST YEAR OF THEIR RESIDENCY TRAINING. SOME TEACHING HOSPITALS HAVE OTHER STUDENTS AS WELL, SUCH AS NURSING STUDENTS. ANY STUDENTS WHO ARE IN TRAINING IN HOSPITALS ARE CLOSELY SUPERVISED BY OTHERS WITH MORE EXPERIENCE.AT A TEACHING HOSPITAL, A TEAM OF PHYSICIANS MIGHT CARE FOR A PATIENT.
MEDICAL COLLEGE
MEDICAL COLLEGES ARE THE MOST TECHNICALLY SOPHISTICATED INSTITUTIONS, WHERE THERE IS HIGH CONCERN ON ENVIRONMENT OF STUDY. THESE INSTITUTIONS USE ADVANCE TECHNOLOGIES AND HAVE AN AMPLE SPACE FOR EXPANSION WITH THE NEED OF MODERN IMPROVEMENT IN TECHNOLOGY. INSTITUTIONS LIKE THESE CONCERN GREAT DETAIL OF RESEARCH ON BOTH, STUDENT’S STUDYING BEHAVIOUR, AND STANDARD OF TECHNOLOGY IN COOPERATED WITH CURRICULUM. THESE INSTITUTIONS MOSTLY ARE DESIGNED ON THE BASIS OF FUNCTION, WHERE THE SPACE IS DESCRIBED BY ACTIVITIES TO BE HELD. THE ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT OF INSTITUTIONS IS OF MAJOR CONCERN. THE “ACTIVITIES THE STUDENTS UNDERGO IN THEIR ENTIRE COLLEGE LIFE” AND “THE INTERACTIVE SPACE AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THEY ARE WELL SUITED WITH”, ARE OF GREAT CONCERN IN PLANNING AND CASE STUDIES ARE ANALYZED WITH THE AIM OF DRAWING DETAILED AND PRAGMATIC CONCLUSIONS AND CONCLUDE WITH THE SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE TOWARDS MORE SUPPORTIVE AND HELPFUL SOLUTION BY MEANS OF COMBINING ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN TO GET A LEARNING INSTITUTE.
RECOVERY GARDEN
HEALTHCARE IS THE PRESERVATION OF MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH BY PREVENTING OR TREATING ILLNESS. A HEALTHY PERSON IS NOT ONE WITH JUST THE ABSENCE OF DISEASE, BUT HEALTH IS A STATE OF PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SOCIAL WELL -BEING. IN GENERAL, HEALTHCARE IS NOT PRACTICED WITH THIS IDEA, MODERN HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS TREAT PEOPLE LIKE MACHINERY. MODERN HEALTHCARE FACILITIES X PARTS AS IF THE PERSON IS A COLLECTION OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS. PEOPLE THOUGH ARE MORE COMPLEX THAN MACHINERY. THE MIND IS NOT ONLY THE CENTRAL CONTROL OF CONSCIENCE BUT ALSO THE PLACE WHERE ALL PAIN IS FELT, ALL HEALING IS COMMANDED, AND WHERE PEOPLE PERCEIVE THEIR ENVIRONMENT. IF THE MIND HAS THE POWER TO HEAL, FOSTERING AN ENVIRONMENT THAT PROMOTES MENTAL WELLNESS SHOULD TRANSLATE TO THE PHYSICAL HEALING OF THE BODY. ARCHITECTURE HAS SHOWN THAT THE ENVIRONMENT THAT PEOPLE CREATE HAS PROFOUND IMPACTS ON THE HUMAN PSYCHE. SUSTAINABLE DESIGNS OF WORKPLACES HAVE SHOWN THAT PRODUCTIVITY LEVELS INCREASE. FORWARD TO THIS A RECOVERY GARDEN HAS BEEN DESIGNED WHICH NOT ONLY PROVIDE RESTORATIVE AND PLEASANT NATURE VIEWS, BUT ALSO CAN REDUCE STRESS AND IMPROVE CLINICAL OUTCOMES THROUGH OTHER MECHANISMS SUCH AS INCREASING ACCESS TO SOCIAL SUPPORT, AND PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR POSITIVE ESCAPE FROM STRESSFUL CLINICAL SETTINGS. IT HELPS TO HEIGHTEN PATIENT AND FAMILY SATISFACTION WITH THE OVERALL QUALITY OF HEALTHCARE.
WATER GARDEN
WATER HAS BEEN USED AS A HEALING AGENT THROUGHOUT HISTORY AND VARIOUS HEALING CENTRES STILL INCORPORATE WATER FEATURES SUCH AS FOUNTAINS, MEDITATION ROOMS, AND OUTDOOR COURTYARDS WITH A STREAM RUNNING THROUGH INTO THE THERAPEUTIC HEALING PROCESS. FLOWING WATER CAN NOT ONLY HEAL, BUT CAN RELAX THE MIND AND ACT AS A GREAT STRESS REDUCER AND MENTAL STABILIZING AGENT. ADDING AN ENVIRONMENT LIKE A WATER GARDEN ADDS A SIMPLE BEAUTY TO THE LIFE OF PATIENTS SO THAT THEY CAN FOCUS ON MOTHER NATURE AND LEAVE THEIR STRESS BEHIND. ADDING THE WATER GARDEN IN MY DESIGN WILL ALLOW THE USERS TO ENJOY THE RELAXING SOUNDS, VISUALS AND SMELLS OF A WATERFALL, POND, OR FOUNTAIN.

The hospital is a part of a envisioned med city, flanked by five different entries for five different hospital.
BASEMENT FLOOR
Basement floor is easily accessed through the secondary entrance. The basement floor is exclusively built for all the services unit, diagnostic department and administration and education department. The areas include CT scan, X-ray, MRI, Ultrasound, UPS room, Maintenance room, Manifold room, Pump and Sump room, Electrical panel room, CSSD, Psychotherapy and Admin Block.
GROUND FLOOR
The entry into the hospital can either lead to the OPD the central atrium and a reception or a connecting corridor to the emergency department. The ground floor also has

FIRST FLOOR
The first floor has the inpatient department with the OR complex, the pre-op and post op’s, the ICU, pre operation room, HDU, the visitor lounge, the MD and Chief surgeon’s cabin all circumscribing the central atrium. The OR complex is completely shut off from the other parts.
SECOND FLOOR
The second floor is designed to give patients a sense of calm as the entire floor is allotted to house of different types of patient room. General, Semi private, Private and Special private rooms. The atrium below is covered with a therapeutic garden that gives an amazing year of entire med city.

CAN MISSES HOSPITAL, SPAIN This approach to reduce the stress and anxiety of the patients and improve the visitors experience is enhanced by the “airport hospital” concept, based on an optimal routing, cellar pathways and visual connections improved by the use of colour. After a research and study of the different flows of patients, families and doctors, patients privacy has been improved, including the proximity to medical units with emergency area and the ICU.

To satisfy a rapidly growing population, the only public hospital on Ibiza needed upgrading, expanding and modernising with the circumstance that the existing premises needed to remain fully operational during the extension works, which required careful planning.

Can Misses conveys a new generation of healthcare buildings based on curative architecture while introduces a new typology of hospitals: airport hospitals, developed by LVA after its experience in airport design (authors of Zaragoza Airport or new Terminal 2 of Heathrow Airport).
