In this module, we explored the driving question: How might we apply traditional Islamic art techniques to celebrate an artistic narrative on the past, present, or future of Oman?
We had a range of experiences like hiking 23 kilometers over three days through the Sharqiya Sands Desert, sharing a meal with a local family to learn more about Bedouin culture, exploring the National Museum of Oman and the Royal Opera House of Muscat, and learning the Diwani Arabic calligraphy script. Each week, we spent hours learning the craft of creating graphic novels through workshops led by local children's books illustrator, lbtihaj Al Harthi.
