6699 is the typographical shape of quotation marks: “ and ”. This hand-made zine is a collection gathered by students in the English Speaking class at Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University. The following three themes were chosen by popular vote in May, 2022.

These are my masks and my parents’ masks. I chose this topic because there are many types of masks in my home.

Takeshita, Sora

These are my favorite masks. I chose the topic because we live in a time when many people wear masks. I chose these masks because they have two wires and are easy to put on. Wearing a mask can fog up glasses, but it is convenient to attach a nose pad to the mask so that the glasses do not fog up. 3


Kambara, Minako

This photo is of the night view taken from Mt. Hakodate in Hokkaido in 2019. I chose this topic because it reminded me of this photo. I chose this photo because I though this place was so attractive that I wanted to go to there again and see this night view. 4


Nishikawa, Taiyo

The topic that I chose is Tourist Attractions. The reason why I chose this topic is because I like traveling. The photo which I submitted is Osaka Castle. The reason I chose this photo is because it is my favorite photo that I was able to take a beautiful picture of Osaka Castle. 5


Takahashi, Ayami

I choose Tourist Attractions because I like travelling and want to introduce tourist attractions. I chose Kiyomizu Temple. It is known for “Jumping off the stage at Kiyomizu.” The scenery from Shimizu Temple was so beautiful. I want to everyone to see it. 6


Tsutsui, Mai

I went to Okayama for my last spring vacation. This picture ① is from Kourakuen in Okayama city. It’s one of The Three Great Gardens of Japan. The scenery was wonderful. ② & ③ is of Kurashiki Scenic Area. Both rice cakes and Japanese umbrellas were very cute and beautiful. ④ is a Demikatsudon, a famous food of Okayama. I ate it for the first time, and was surprised at the good combination of pork cutlet and demigrace sauce. You should check out!

Abe, Takumi

I usually use these masks a lot. Especially, I often use the mask on the left side. These masks fit my face well and are very easy to use. Also, this mask doesn’t hurt my ears. I hate masks because my face gets stuffy. So I hope the day will come when I don’t have to wear masks anymore. 8


Yamamoto, Koki

This photo is of the Tottori Sand Dune Sand Museum. I chose this photo because I want to introduce the museum where the sand statues in Tottori are exhibited, which is one of the attractions of my hometown, Tottori. 9


Yoshitomi, Miki

This photo is of Smalter Museum in Inujima, Okayama prefecture. The museum was preserved and rebuilt. The retro atmosphere is very good. Also, the Setouchi Triennale is held here in Inujima, where you can see the works of various artists from around the world. When you go to Inujima, you can see various things and you can enjoy it very much. That’s why I chose Inujima.


Yamashita, Ai

The tourist attraction that I want to introduce is Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. This is a shrine in Fukuoka prefecture, and it is famous for enshrining Sugawara no Michizane, who is the god of learning. The reason why I chose this tourist attraction is that Fukuoka is my hometown. So I am familiar with the place. 11


Terakado, Amu

The mask in the picture is a mask that is used separately for playing, working part-time and daily life. People started wearing masks two years ago. There are many different types of masks. I think that everyone uses different types of masks. 12


Kunioka, Taiki

The tallest tower in the world, Tokyo Sky Tree I chose this photo of Tokyo Sky Tree. When I went to Tokyo on a school trip, I saw the sky tree tower. It was very tall, and cool.

Yamaoka, Nene

This picture was taken in Okinawa by myself when I went on a junior high school trip. These are Ocean Expo Park and Churaumi Aquarium. The middle of this picture is whale shark. I chose this topic because the memory of school trip is treasure for me and I really want to recommend a trip to Okinawa. 14


Sugihara, Natsuki

I took this picture when I went to Arashiyama this spring. Arashiyama is a nice place where you can feel a Japanese style. In addition, there are many shops, so you can buy souvenirs and make memories. Arashiyama is my favorite tourist attraction. 15

I enjoyed talking and going to onsens with my friends

Yamaguchi, Maika

I don’t like or hate masks. I wear them everyday to prevent the coronavirus infection. I get my masks from the drugstore. I bought this one; it was 400yen for 7 masks. I like it because it’s easy to breathe. Also, your ears are less likely to hurt with it. 17


Fukushima, Matsuri

My topic is Tourist Attractions. The photo is Everglades in Biwako. It is a glamping facility. I like traveling , so I choose this topic. I gave this answer because you can have a barbecue, sleep in a hammock and walk your dog here. 18


Ishii, Nozomi

Nail sticker: You don’t need time to dry the nail sticker because you just stick them on your nails and shape them. You can do nails when you feel like it without scraping them. Moreover, it is easy to remove because you just warm your fingertips up in hot water and peel them off. Nail polish remover is not needed, so you can reduce the damage to your nails. They’re easy to use.

Hi! My name is Moa Takami. For our class magazine, I wrote about Tourist Attractions. Let me introduce Tokyo. As you know, this place is the capital of Japan, and there are many tourist spots. For example, Tokyo tower is one of the famous tower in Tokyo. This tower stands 333 meters high. It’s more beautiful when tower is illuminated. Please try and go there.


Miyata, Riho

I’m going to introduce Gardens by the Bay. This is a vast botanical garden in Singapore, adjacent to the waterfront at Marina Bay. It is divided into three areas: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden, with a total area of 101 hectares. The reason I chose this place is that it left an impression when I went to Singapore for a school trip. Supertree Grove is the photo on the left. These are artificial giant trees with plants planted in them, and there are 18 trees in the park. Then, the photo on the right is Waterfall View. This is an artificial waterfall with a of 35 meters drop that flow down from Cloud Mountain in the Cloud Forest.

This is a picture of knitting tools you can buy at the ¥100 shop. I’ve gotten all my knitting tools at ¥ 100 shops. I chose this picture because I want everyone to know that there is a hobby that can be started for ¥100. 22


Mori, Yukina

My topic is tourist attractions. This photo is Kuranda Scenic Railway. It’s a tourist train running between Kuranda and Cairns. I chose this topic because I like to go out and have visited many tourist attractions. The reason why I chose this photo is that I have visited this place on a high school trip, and scenery and nature which I looked at then were very beautiful.

This is taken in Otaru in Hokkaido when I traveled last year. I think this pic is beautiful so I chose it.

Takizawa, Honoka

This is Shin Enoshima Aquarium. This is the most beautiful place in the aquarium; the Jellyfish exhibit corner. I chose this topic because it was the most memorable place I visited last year, and it was the most beautiful aquarium I have ever visited. 25


Aoyama, Mizuha

My topic is Tourist Attractions. This photo is of Nara Kingyo Museum. The museum is the most fantastical, I’ve ever seen. I want you to visit so I choose this photo.

I like Disney very much. I think this mask is very good because I can wear my favorite character.

Diversity of Mask. Because I have been using mask a lot in a few years, I thought I would like to look into masks.

Tourist Attractions: This is Tsunoshima Ohashi bridge and a beautiful view.

Lake Biwako. I live in Shiga.

Yabuno, Ai

I like traveling, and I think it can broaden our horizons. There are many sightseeing spots in my hometown of Wakayama. Shirarahama is a beach with pure white and smooth sandy beach that stretches for about 620m. In summer, you can enjoy swimming in the sea and the fireworks display. In winter, you can enjoy the illuminations and footbaths. I definitely want you to visit.

Yanai, Yuuka

My topic is Spirited Away. I took a picture of the place which was the stage for the move “Spirited Away” in Jioufen, Taiwan. I like Studio Ghibli because the characters are very cute.

I choose Tourist Attractions because I like traveling and I want to visit more tourist attractions in Japan.

Nakagawa, Chikako

Kinkakuji a world heritage site in Kyoto. A lot of Japanese and foreigners visit Kinkakuji every year. It shines because it is covered in gold leaf. Kinkakuji was built by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1397. I visited Kinkakuji once when I was a elementary school student. Kyoto has a lot of historical tourist attractions. Please try and go there too sometime for yourself.


Hori, Sanae

This is a photo from a trip to Hokkaido. It was taken at a place called Clock Tower. I chose Hokkaido because of its many tourist attractions and delicious food.

Miyata, Kohei

This is my favorite mask, “AiRism”. This mask is washable and doesn’t get sweaty. I use it almost everyday. The reason why I chose this topic is that it is very interesting for me; I use this mask almost everyday.

Otsuji, Yuki

My favorite sightseeing spot is Sapporo. Sapporo Tower is beautiful.

Brotherton, Duncan

Have you ever been to Genbudo in Toyooka City, Hyogo? (It’s close to Kinosaki Onsen). The volcanic rock formations created hexagonal (6-sided) columns of rock. Very interesting shapes, and the rock formations are very cool to look at! 38
