Students voting on a theme for the magazine
6699 is the typographical shape of quotation marks: “ and ”. This hand-made zine is a collection gathered by students in the Design Specialized English class at Kyoto University of Art and Design. The theme “My Sundries” (which is zakka in Japanese) was chosen by popular vote in class on Wednesday the 20th of December, 2017. It was suggested by Rika Nishikawa. Each page in this magazine contains an introduction of student sundries, either owned or desired. We hope you enjoy it.
“I want to share with you two of my favorite items, CHARMVILLA tea pack, and SHIROKUMA tea pack holder. Actually, I don’t have either of them, but I really want to buy both of them. Although they are made in different countries, the ideas match so well. I really love the ideas, so I tried to put them in one illustration. Looks so funny, right?” So Chin (in Japanese) or Tseng, Jhen (in Chinese) Second-year Illustration Course student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1995. Came to Japan in 2015. Likes drawing, observation, and creation. Hopes to be an illustrator in the future.
Yuho Fukui 2nd year Information design student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Hyogo in 1997. Likes drawing, good ideas and creating graphics. Hopes to open her own coffee shop in the future.
“I got these goggles from Haguruma-tei. They cost me about ÂĽ12,000. They make me fall in love each time I see them.â€?
Miki Kamishima 4th year information design student at Kyoto university of art & design. Born in Toyama, in 1995. Likes playing games, drawing illustrations and skiing. Hopes to become an illustrator in the future.
This is a ring which I got from my friend as a birthday gift. I like it very much.
Yusuke Maeda 2nd-year student from the Department of Information Design, Illustration Course 2nd. Born in Osaka. Loves Art. Wants to live a long time.
Mizuki Matsumoto 4th year Information Design student. Born in Takatsuki city in Osaka. Likes drawing illustrations, wacthing movies and reading comics. Hopes to be a character designer for TV games.
“I got this gamaguchi pouch (porcupine pouch) from KaranKoronKyoto. It cost me about ¥1000. It can carry money and because it is cute also made me lose my money when I bought it!!!”
Miki Sei 2nd year student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Osaka, Japan. Likes watching movies, listening to music and plaing basketball. Hopes to be graphic designer.
“I got this cup from my grandmother in Osaka. I use it as a pen stand. The dog and cat design is very cute.�
Maika Minamigawa Student of Kyoto University of Art & Design, in the Illustration course, Department of Information Design. Born in Osaka in 1997. Likes shopping, drawing sketches and aquariums. Hopes to be a fashion designer in the future.
Misuzu Morita 2nd year Illustration student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Nara, in 1997. Likes eating chocolate, drinking black coffee and eating somen. Hopes to be a freelance Illustrator in the future.

“These were a presentfrom my father’s friend. He is a designer. They were exhibited in his exhibition. They are made from wood or paper, so they are small and perfect. They are also so strong and charming, however.�
Sasuke Nenoki 2nd year Information Design student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Kyoto, in 1998. Likes plaster figures, posters, and drawing. Hopes to work as a copy writer, a graphic designer, and an art director in the future.
“I got this white collection from many people in my acquaintance. It cost me nothing. I enjoy put things around my room.�
Rika Nishikawa 4th year Information design student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Hiroshima, in 1996. Likes sewing, cooking, and making sweets. Hopes to make package design in the future.

Kyou Nonoyama 2nd year Information Design student at Kyoto University of Art & Design. Born in Kyoto. Likes reading Comics, looking at and drawing Illustrations. Hopes to be an Illustrator in the future.
“MINI ATM: This is a mini ATM. It is like a piggy bank. But it is electronical. It can store both coin and paper money and count. When you want to take your money out, you need to insert the card. BARN LANTERN: It is a lantern which you need to put a candle in. You can’t carry the lantern for a long time because it will be very hot. Tian Yao Second year Information Design student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Chang Zhou China, in 1996. Likes creating graphics, painting and design. Hopes to be an illustrator in the future.
RABBIT FLOWERPOT: My mother’s flowerpot is very interesting. I didn’t think it was a flowerpot at first. PRIVATE SEALS: When I learned chinese painting, I bought this private seal. And the seal ink is in a round box. My name is on the bottom.
Haruka Shimizu 2nd year Information Design student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Hyogo, in 1998. Likes Animation, creating graphics and skiing. Hopes to create graphics in the future.

This “Zakka” is my schedule book cover. It is made of fake leather. And my favorite character “Pikachu” is engraved on the surface of the cover. I like it because it is very cute.
Shoutaro Watanabe 4th year Information design student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Hyogo, in 1995. Likes to take pictures.
“In recent years, the environment in China is becoming more and more rich of tea culture. I have a couple of tea sets as collection in my home. This vacation, I took out these collections and looked at them. These photo is shown tea sets which were given to my family members as a gift, and I have selected a few that I find interesting to show.� Mirai Xia Exchange student from KUAD. “I got this hourglass from the hundred-yen store in Kyoto. It cost me about ¥100. If you look at the sand falling, it calms you down.”
Saya Yamamoto Second year Information Design student at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Miyagi, in 1997. Grew up in Gifu after 1998. Likes listening to music, reading books and making things. Hopes to make animation in the future.
