The Public Athletic Club Beginning to explore formal operations through simple cuts made from analysis of the site, this project dealt with creating a public athletic club that offered a public plaza to the citizens of Syracuse, NY. The form wraps around the public

plaza, while lifting up at the street corner to allow public circulation to come through into the open space. The lines of the facade evolved from a grid developed by the lines of the form, and then were carved out according to the inside program.

Site is located at w. washington and s. clinton in a very busy spot in downtown Syracuse. It is surrounded by office buildings and only has an open view towards the corner of the site.

Connection between perseverance park and the federal building plaza is established with a slice through the building mass. The park is extended through the site to create new public plaza.

The two masses are connected above the ground level to channel visitors, the building side is shaved to allow more room on the ground level for the public plaza.

The roof is sloped at a gentle angle to allow the roof to function as a running court, the facade is connected to emphasize street corner entry from visitors.

Park facing facades are subtracted from to disengage from two flat faces facing the park side entrance. The building edges become softened to create a space that revolves, while outer edges remain sharp to maintain corner / street presence.

Downtown Athletic Club Through studies of tower typologies, the possibility of redefining the downtown athletic club as a multi-use building, assisted by the written texts of Rem Koolhaas. The site located in the newly popular Hudson River Redevelopment site adjacent to the third installment of the Highline was analyzed. Strictly designed through sectional and elevational iterations, the design started with a strong concept of introducing a gradient not only on the exterior, but the interior as well. The end goal was to achieve the concept of gradient through the section and elevations, as well as diagram, program, and every aspect of the final production.

versa) shows from the layout of various programs scattered through the floors. This project aims to do the same by using an internal and external gradient to dictate program + fenestration + circulation, and weaves the internal programs together through the gradient. Therefore, HOTEL

Module size for various programs are decided upon by how flexible they are, not by square footage. For example, a hotel can be broken into multiple smaller modules because of the different hotel rooms. However a swimming pool cannot be broken up into smaller modules because it must be continuous.

DIA Art Gallery The hyperdense infill conditions of New York City is ever changing, and to pull context from the vicinity of the site was a difficult, but rewarding task. Through numerous research methods, via internet or via site visit, settling on the various fire escapes, and extruding stair entrances or street level voids that lead down into shops or restaurants are the things that were most intriguing. The program was a second facility for the non profit contemporary art foundation, DIA, as well as a residential tower above the art gallery. Issues of circulation (division between residents and gallery go-ers) and various other relationships within the building and outside were considered.

Professional Work The next few renderings were done during my time working for The Abo Group, Inc. The original renderings were done through Revit 3D, then the entourage was added through photoshop. The plants in the renderings were carefully chosen strictly following the vegetation master plan of the following project.
