In the rapidly growing neighborhood of Shoreditch, the large tech corporations quickly making their move to “the Silicon Roundabout are pushing out the ones who originally made Shoreditch attractive to the world. Thorough research and understanding of (live + work + play) and the history of the context was required to develop the project into a response for another neighborhood at the brink of an identity wipe.

SCARCITY OF KNOWLEDGE brooklyn, new york

research in collaboration in James Gilliland

/07

The issue of water scarcity finally gained some attention when scientists declared that the Syrian revolution could be traced back to the fact that countries surrounding the Tigris and Euphrates are losing water faster than anywhere else on the planet. Yet nobody knows about it. However, even with global water scarcity finally starting to appear on the radar of the general public, it still lacks the amount of attention and outreach to really impact any countries in need of help. Through educating the mass public on this issue, this project aims to create a center of education and innovation by partnering with institutions and companies that are actively engaging this very serious ecological issue. /08

An innovation hub in downtown Brooklyn that will house the above three partners will work in collaboration to innovate new water conserving methods that are both passive and active. As an example, the entire building will celebrate water by using passive water distribution methods through form and permeable concrete to recycle rainwater back to the public, and restore groundwater.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL MEDIATOR roosevelt island, new york

/13

New York City was devastated after the destruction by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Tremendous effort was put forth to re-think the waterfront of Manhattan to avoid another natural disaster that could further damage the inner part of the city. Roosevelt Island is an interesting case, because it is not situated on either side of the East River, but rather in the middle of it, making it extremely vulnerable to another hurricane. Using the rubble from pre-existing site buildings to build up a berm, a similar approach to the waterfront efforts, but with a means to unobstruct views and protect a historical building as well as becoming an extension of the existing public park and the Four Points Monument.

THE PUBLIC ATHLETIC CLUB syracuse, new york

/19

Beginning to explore formal operations through simple cuts made from the analysis of site conditions, this project dealt with creating a public athletic club that offered a public plaza to the citizens of the Syracuse. The form wraps around the plaza, lifting up at the street corner to funnel public circulation through to the open space. The lines of the facade evolved from a grid developed by the lines of the form, where the apertures were carefully placed via the location of program within.

in collaboration with Maya Alam, Mook Kaewkoon, Emily Greer Syracuse Architecture internal competition first place Festival Des Architecture Vives 2015 special mention award

/25

The site, nested within Hotel Audessan in Montpellier, gave us very strict site limitations and parameters which we worked within. Using magnetic tape from old VCR tapes, a weaving panel was designed to hook the tape around our timber frame to create a saturated field of patterns. The tape created a mirror effect for those walking through, and the arches frame the existing arches on site, while the portals directed visitors through the pavilion. Over a four day construction period, the pavillion was built and then taken down at the end of the festival. /26

FABRICATION + PHOTOGRAPHY multiple locations around colorado

in collaboration with The Public Works + iHeartMedia

When I am not in the studio, I am often found enjoying the outdoors, or in a shop making something. I love physically constructing something, using the machines and tools to fabricate anything from trophies to furniture for clients. Photography has also allowed me to express myself as a designer through different mediums, by freelancing for iHeartMedia and covering a wide variety of musicians at their shows. /30

#BLVD404, a new luxury student housing scheduled to open in the fall semester of 2016. When I first heard of the project, I approached my clients with an intention to market and advertise their new project to the diverse communities within the school. By referencing cultural “memes and everyday college frustrations, we aimed to create a narrative to promote a lifestyle which is enabled by the countless amenities this new building offers. Through simple but repetitive advertisements placed strategically around the campus, a full ad campaign, a manual for the street team and fully translated chinese ads were created for the client to offer a seamless service aimed at the goal of fulfilling all leases prior to the fall 2016 semester.
