About KSU Kunsill Studenti Universitarji is the oldest national student union in Europe and currently represents approximately thirteen thousand students at the University of Malta and Junior College. KSU was founded by Chief Justice Sir Arturo Mercieca in 1901, as the Comitato Permanente Universitario. Throughout the year, the students’ union takes on a very proactive approach towards current affairs, national and international issues.
FW 2019 Theme and Aspirations The theme is all about the pathway you must follow to become your true self, as an individual as well as within society. We hope to inspire many and ignite the fire one beholds. It is true that Every year Freshers' Week is given a different look, but what remains constant about this large scale event is the ability to unite both newbies and oldies. It transcends to an exciting time where our University is budding with students who look forward to that which their future holds.

Aim The organisation’s aim remains unaltered through the years: to foster and enhance the important contribution that every student can lend to our University and Maltese society. KSU gives students the opportunity not only to attend, but also to form an integral part of their University. KSU’s Executive Committee is pushing forth the renewed emphasis that University is not simply an academic domain where one specialises within a particular tield or profession, but a forum for exchange of experiences between students as well as one of the ultimate steps which complete the student formation process. Although in itself KSU is a dynamic organisation and therefore is open for change and debate, like other organisations, it finds its roots in a set of fundamental objectives on which it was founded. Over the past 116 years KSU has been working:

To achieve the democratization of education in Malta; 4. To coordinate activities with other organisations and; 5. To cultivate an interest in students in the fields of education, sociopolitical, international and cultural issues

KSU Freshers’ Week The 30th of September officially marks once again another exciting new academic year at the University of Malta. To celebrate this brand-new beginning, every year the University Student Council, KSU (Kunsill Studenti Universitarji) organises The KSU Freshers’ Week. Stands, music, competitions, promotions and freebies together with a vast range of student activities will come together to give a good kick start to the new academic year. Multiple companies and student organisations will set up their stands on campus providing information and offering an excellent opportunity for students to ask questions about the companies participating, internship opportunities, information on their future careers as well as choosing to join one of the many student organisations. KSU will start off with their event on Monday 30th September, and will close on Friday 4th October, 2019. The KSU Freshers’ Week is an excellent opportunity for students to meet new people, find out about student organisations, participate in activities, listen to good music but most important to gather as much information for their future from those participating.

The KSU Freshers’ Week 2018 shall be advertised extensively throughout all of KSU’s media, including but not limited to: 1. The KSU web portal - www.ksu.org.mt 2. The KSU Facebook Page, with a following of over 8,000 persons 3. The monitor screens which are found in Students’ House. 4. The KSU Instagram Account
Participants will have various opportunities to advertise their services duringFreshers’ Week, particularly by — either publishing an advert on the Freshers’ Diary or inserting a flyer in the Freshers’ Welcome pack. 7000 copies of the above are given out to students during Freshers’ Week. Participants this year will also have the opportunity to advertise on the various banners which will be set up either in Vjal Tessie on your way entering the event venue and other prominent areas around the campus, advertise on a banner on the facade of Student’s House for a whole month, or have their company logo on the 7000 welcome bags given out to students.
