A MIRRORED

REFLECTION ON TWO YEARS OF LEADERSHIP AT TORO CLUB

2020-2023

Greeting from OUTDOOR CAPTAIN

It has been a privilege and hold- in -awe to serve on the top management of this Mighty Club working with the most understanding club members, staff, caddies, and partners is one of the most fulfilling things in leadership.

As the proverb goes “All good things must come to an end” however, I believe that our time together at Toro club has been a testament to the fact that it’s not the length of life, but the depth of life that truly matters. Serving as a leader amidst the pandemic and Ebola cases has been a true test of the executive committee’s

resilience and commitment to meeting the club’s mission and am grateful for the opportunity to have served alongside the most wonderful, dedicated, and passionate individuals and I will always cherish the memories we have created together and I hope the executive to come will take advantage of our firm base to maintain and move forward the club’s legacy.

It is my pleasure now to present to you the impressive triumphs we have driven down the fairway thus far, as well as guide you through the bunkers and rough patches we have stood up

against on our journey. As your outdoor captain and acting general secretary, I am resolute to navigate these obstacles with you, leveraging your swing and stance to overcome any adversity that lies ahead. Together let us take a strategic approach to each challenge, reading the green with care and taking calculated risks to stay ahead of the competition. Looking at the ball let us tee off;

I would like to express my utmost gratitude for the trust you bestowed upon me to lead as the Outdoor Captain from 2020-2023 and the Acting General secretary for not less than 9 months.

TEE BOX ONE

We organized several football matches to play against several corporate organizations that share values like us with the intention of;

} To provide an opportunity for members to hone their other skills other than golf

} To build up fitness levels for the members

} To construct team spirit and camaraderie

} To increase the club’s visibility

} Open up networking opportunities

} Appointed the team coach

It’s important to mark that the club’s football team greatly improved in the short time during our term of office when the club’s tradition of losing

matches entered a new phase of consistent results with a string of draws with strong corporate teams like Rotaract of Kabarole whom we even denied a chance to win our trophy.

During our term, we started a competition against other corporate teams whereby a team that beats the other in a challenge of 2 out of 3 games could win the trophy.

We enrolled and improved the turn up of participants in the squash and the training has been consistent unlike in the past. Negotiations with the developers on the smooth run

The basketball court has been in full use and participation of the youth has been incredibly increased which made it compelling enough for our own to use it too whilst not playing golf however it remains in the use of by the community to enlarge extent.

} Volleyball was always on although it dominated the tennis court

} The pool table was repaired and made available for the members.

} Internal darts games we invariably on for the members throughout the term.

Achievements as an ACTING GENERAL SECRETARY

Firstly thanks to My Lord Collins Acellam who provided me with strategic guidance on this role following his appointment as a judge far away in fort portal which couldn’t enable him to proceed with his role as the club executive?

On the tee

} We chaired not less than one meeting every month

} We promptly approved the membership applications

} We appointed the club’s legal advisor

} We identified and communicated about the proposal of the 3rd patron of the club

} Created important partnerships

What was in process and what Future Plans?

} Securing the jersey for the Toro club corporate football team was in the process and designs were made and presented to the club members.

} Registration of Toro club football team in corporate leagues

} Improvement of the Booma playground and registration of all the teams that use the facility to make it organized.

} Renovate the squash court and initiate membership for the people who use the facility to increase the club’s revenue.

} Renovation of the tennis court
