IT IS SUMMER! Well, officially on June 21st it will be, but close enough. Can you believe we are halfway through 2022? Our team has been busy traveling between Tennessee and Kentucky, visiting our distributors and advertisers. We are so thankful for everyone’s support. Last month, we dedicated the issue to honoring those heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms. You, our readers, let us know that they enjoyed the May issue very much. This month’s issue is dedicated to Motorcycles and Music. You will see throughout the pages a variety of stories on the connection between the two. Even the Veteran’s Drive and Patriot’s Way is a tribute to the music within the branches. If you haven’t noticed, our team enjoys putting together themed issues. June doesn’t only bring heat and humidity; with it comes many Bike Events and Rallies and with that comes music. Live performances have fueled the energy of riders for decades. That is our team’s favorite part of

Rocking And Riding
Have you ever wondered why Rock & Roll and Motorcycles go hand in hand? Chances are, if you are reading this article, you are associated with motorcycles. Maybe you ride, perhaps have a motorcycle-themed business., or you just freaking love bikes. Whichever the case, you have also probably noticed that wherever there are bikes, more times than none, there is Rock & Roll.
The 50s
Known as the ‘Golden Era of Television,’ It was prime for capturing our society’s youth when it came to music expression and motorcycles. Especially considering that both were the ultimate symbol of rebellion. This was a time when the youth of America were trying to discover their identity. Gone was the desire to continuously spin the vinyl of their parent’s choice. Not when they had the likes of James Dean and Marlon Brando to now look up to. Pushing back against what was expected of them was just an added benefit. As Brando and Dean built a reputation around their love of ‘New Rock Music’, and their love of motorcycles became more public, it was easy to capture a young audience. Dean, who had managed to win over the youth of the time with his portrayals of a rebellious outcast was also known to own several impressive motorcycles. Following his young and tragic death, his dangerous, bad-boy image became what everyone wanted to emulate. When you combine an idol, edgier music, and twowheeled rides, it was the perfect recipe in that time, to express angst and frustration. As the motorcycle

culture grew in the 50s and the invention of transistor radios, Fender guitars and radio DJs, rock and roll and motorcycles took on a natural progression. Songs like “Leader of the Pack”, which told the story of a girl and her motorcycle-wielding boyfriend, rose to be regarded as one of the greatest songs in American history. Brando would create a cult classic in “The Wild One”. On screen, he took on the character of a real-life biker and would paint the image of “biker” and “outlaw” with the same stroke. Interesting fact, “The Wild One” was given credit for taking the black leather jacket from a military standard to a motorcycle staple. Rockers and Café Racers in Britain were on the rise as counter-culture and anti-establishment. The self-proclaimed rebels donned leather jackets and greased hair popular with rock musicians at the time. They rode stripped-down and fast bikes, and quickly built a reputation of, trouble on two wheels.
The 60s
Motorcycles and Rock & Roll were reserved for the outcasts and the non-conforming within what had become a rapidly growing phenomenon. The fifties may have been the catapult that set the popular connection of rock and bikes, but it was the sixties that saw a shift and popularized, challenging the norms of the older, middle-class generation on a grander scale. A new era of nonconformity and resistance to traditional viewpoints was built on showcasing loud music and fast bikes.

The 70s
Custom bikes took it to another level, brought on by the craze of 1968’s “Easy Rider.” This created a movement from European manufacturers to American and Japanese bikes, rejuvenating the nearly underwater HarleyDavidson and bringing an entirely new respect to Honda. Harley-Davidson’s saw a revitalization and with that came a rise in the loner and outlaw stereotypes surrounding bikers. The 1970s saw the greatest mix of Rock & Roll and Motorcycles in American history. From Lemmy of Motorhead (80s) to Brian May, legendary Queen guitarist, they were putting their mark on the biker craze. Of course, how can we leave out Meatloaf’s “Bat Out of Hell” album, which was one of the most iconic crossovers, featuring a famed motorcycle solo in its title track!
Today
Throughout the decades, both motorcycles and rock music became one with resistance to authority and separation from the mainstream. The love for motorcycles amongst Rock and Rollers continues with the likes of Steven Tyler and Kid Rock. Not to leave the ‘Rocking and Riding’ to men, Pink, and our own local favorite rocker, Jasmine Cain has a love of two wheels. As years have passed and culture has changed, the opinions surrounding both Motorcycles and Rock & Roll have shifted. For the most part, gone are the days when motorcycles, leather, and rock and roll are seen as the sign of a criminal or bandit. More likely, while driving down the highway, when you hear that sound of rumbling pipes or an old two-stroke cruising from behind, You turn up whatever rock station that’s in range, look back into the rearview mirror, and appreciate the iconic duo of loud music and fast bikes. ROCKING OUT WITH By April Violet Born to a Baptist minister in Detroit, being forbidden to listen to Rock & Roll or even have any albums in the house, one wouldn’t think a young boy would grow up to become the lead for an Ozzy Osbourne tribute band. However, that is precisely what Michael Boyd Quinton did. Growing up, Michael, more commonly known now as Boyd Ozzy Quinton, recalls his absolute love of music. He would get his fill any time he left his home. Weekends with friends were all about cranking up the likes of Def Leppard and AC/DC, a hard rock binge of sorts. In the mid-1980s, hard rock was leading the decade, and Boyd was out on his own, in his own place. No longer under restraints, he allowed the music he loved and knew was in him to take hold. Like most of us, the impact of the economy’s downward spiral significantly impacted Boyd’s lively hood. In 2009, he was forced to give up two businesses, close the doors, and walk away. He ended up moving to a neighborhood where he was surrounded by music, LITERALLY. Across the street lived a man named Dave Eversole, who had started a band called ‘Fifty Amp Fuse,’ which was the most prominent dance band in the state. The neighbor to his right was a drummer in a large church band. The neighbor to the left of him was a man named Les Paul. So, when we say he was surrounded by music, we aren’t exaggerating.

Since the only place Boyd usually performed was behind his steering wheel, he was a bit reluctant to put himself out there; however, with all the music around him taunting him to give it a try, Boyd started singing at a place in Milford, MI called the Red Dog Saloon. Every week he would join in on karaoke and soon discovered he could carry a note, especially singing the hits of Sammy Hagar, Poison, and you guessed it, Ozzy. A band called ‘Forward’ asked him to audition as a lead vocalist about a year in. Now seeing as he was in a new relationship with his nowwife, Amy, she wouldn’t let his fear overcome him. Like any great supportive partner, she ‘gently’ convinced him to audition. The next day Boyd found himself the lead singer of a band. After a year with ‘Forward’ and another year with a breakaway band called ‘Majik Whiski,’ Boyd was approached by a guitarist who looked a lot like Ozzy’s longtime guitarist, Zakk Wylde. As tribute bands were on the rise, the timing seemed perfect to agree to start up a band together, and so they did. This Zakk Wylde lookalike, Jason Culhane (no longer with the band), secured a drummer and a bass player. With Boyd on lead, the band was off to a start.

the Beautiful NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM AND SPORTS PARK
Although some years ago, I covered the National Corvette Museum in this publication, things change and I feel an update is appropriate. People visit this venue from all over the world, including groups of and individual bikers. Across the street for the Bowling Green Corvette plant, this museum displays the history of America’s Sports Car. While many automobile brands have come and gone, with the mid-engine C8, and the upcoming Z06, demand far exceeds supply, insuring its place in the world market. (Disclaimer: I am the lucky owner of a beautiful Rapid Blue 2022 Z51) Since its inception in 1953 (a weakly powered, but neat looking Vette), the machine has undergone many updates. The original model was cobbled together from modified Chevy passenger car parts. In 1994, the notfor-profit organization opened this 115,000 foot museum, where visitors can see the past, present, and future of this incredible sports car. On display are many iconic models. The 1965 prototype XP-819 (Ugly Duckling), with a rear engine, the 1975 XP-987GT, with a 2 rotary engine, and the 1974, only Corvette ever owned by Zora (hence the Z, in Z06, Z51, etc.) Arkus-Duntov, “Father of the Corvette”, are but a few. Many racing ‘Vettes are on display including a 2015 C7-R. At the finish of the 2016 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, Corvettes finished 1-2, with a .084 sec. difference.

You can also see a Malibu Corvette boat as produced from 1997-2000, a “production line” from the old St Louis plant and, heartbreakingly, the remains of the 6 priceless cars destroyed in the sink hole disaster. The wrecks include the 1.5 Millionth Corvette, produced in 2009. Two others were able to be restored. Need speed? Try out the simulated racer in the lobby. “The Tabernacle of David”
David is bringing back the Ark of God after the Philistines took it captive 20 years ago. He decides not to bring it back to Moses’ Tabernacle where it was taken from, instead David builds a tent (David’s Tabernacle) to place the Ark of God in it. David makes a decision not to place the Ark of God in a place where “God once was,” but to place the Ark of God in a place “where God is.” All religions and denominations started “with a move of God,” the problem is that they stayed there and never developing, turning into a tradition. Isa.43:1819 “Remember not the former things, neither consider the things of old. What you are seeing today in “biker churches, cowboy churches, gospel rock music with light shows & fog machines,” is really a fulfillment of prophecy in Amos 9:11 & Acts 15:16 “I will rebuild the Tabernacle of David.” If Abraham stuck by what God first told him to do, he would have killed his son Isaac as a sacrifice regardless of what the Angel told him in Gen.22:10-13. Tradition will always obey what God first said. Revelation is always open to what God is saying now. Religion & tradition is spiritually killing our children on the legalistic altars of Religion. MUSIC AND THE MILITARY Music of the Military. Outside of operations in support of the defense of our country, some of my most vivid memories of my service involved the Navy band or various groups from the other services. Throughout this article, I have given you some key internet search phrases to find more in-depth information about this subject. Let us explore the music of the military together. Music is found in a myriad of places through society, and the military is no different. You may have heard some of the tunes without even realizing it. Some are very short musical melodies such as Revile or Charge (often heard at sporting events). Others are ceremonial in nature where a service band would be needed for the occasion. Two hundred years ago, drummers drumming to cadence as the units marched towards their
objective would have been commonplace. Trumpeters would have sounded reveille, retreat, charge and others to give orders at specific points in a military operation. Today, with modern technology and the evolution of warfare, the use of music in the military has evolved. The 20th century brought about the creation and adoption of service songs and music became more about entertaining the troops and morale. U.S. Army – “The Army Goes Rolling Along” U.S. Coast Guard – “Semper Paratus” U.S. Marine Corps – “The Marines’ Hymn” U.S. Navy – “Anchors Aweigh” U.S. Air Force – “The U.S. Air Force” One of my personal favorites is any rendition of an Armed Forces Medley which plays all the services songs. It is not just about the music; it is also about the words – they tell a story. If

you want to learn more about the words, take a moment to look them up online using “U.S. Military Song Lyrics” as your guide.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has a nice article which celebrates the service songs and gives you additional information. Search “VA guide to US Military Songs.” The Military Band Experience: The U.S. Department of Defense has created a feature about U.S. Military Bands and Music. What is interesting is the vast array of options from traditional marching band to performances in any style. Search “Guide to U.S. Military Bands.” I recall several occasions while serving on active duty where bands played (or sometimes even a recording in a pinch) in ceremonies and events ranging from Changes of Command, Retirements and ship commissionings. These are auspicious occasions filled with tradition. Typically, the band will play various service songs as the guests arrive and find their places. On the appointed hour, the march is played while the VIPs and officers proceed to their places on the dais. Speeches are given, orders are read, and various songs may be played. While each ceremony
may have a different order of events or music selection, the musical sounds of the service will be all around. If you get the opportunity to see a military band in person, seize the moment. The music of the military brings back fond memories of my time in the service. Special Edition THE BENT WRENCH ROADHOUSE One thing is true for almost every rider who uses two wheels to take their soul on a journey away from the everyday aspects of life…They like to EAT! We would even go as far as to say, that it’s almost mandatory that after pulling on the throttle for a couple of hours, fueling yourself with a bite to eat is just as important as filling up that tank. Let us share with you the perfect stopping point when riding outward to Western Tennessee. In a little town, that if you blinked you would surely miss it, we came across what we would refer to as an undiscovered treasure, well, undiscovered may be a stretch. Under new ownership and undergoing a refresh is more accurate. As we pulled into the parking lot, riding in between two gigantic wrenches that seemed to reach the sky, we were immediately intrigued. Before even parking, we were waved by a fellow rider and patron towards what seemed to be special motorcycle parking. So we did just that. As we pulled through the opening between the back patio and the privacy fence, we were amazed at what was awaiting us. A massive additional outdoor section, complete with a free-standing fireplace. WOW is all we could think. The reason this is a “Special Edition” is because we happened to visit on a day that the new owner was onsite, making plans for all the incredible upgrades and additions planned for The Bent Wrench Roadhouse in the tiny town of Fredonia TN. After shedding our riding gear and taking a moment to cool down, we were approached by a petite blonde who seemed eager to share her establishment with all visitors who rode in. She very graciously invited us to join her for lunch and conversation. This is how we got to know Rachel Vaughn. Rachel was willing to not only answer the many questions we had, but she was also asking plenty of her own. You see, Rachel had never owned a Biker Bar before. 18

The moment she told us she was well versed in the food industry and her vision for The Bent Wrench, was to not only be the spot that riders wanted to stop in at but be known for incredible food. Well once she mentioned that we knew right away we had our next “Ride To Eat” Rachel’s roots are in Tennessee, even though she has been living in Los Angeles since 2009. Her grandparents are from the Nashville area and Rachel herself grew up around Gatlinburg. “How the heck did you end up going from living in LA to owning a Biker Bar?” I asked. Her answer was simple. Rachel told her husband Jake King, that she needed to come back home. She wanted to own a business that not only rooted her back in TN, but also meant something to the local community. So, Jake took his wife’s request and bought the bar for them to run together. We ate and talked for a few hours as she shared her vision of the parking lot being full of bikes and her new smoker being put to use. She had just scheduled her first Bike Night, Karaoke Night, and was going to be starting weekly live music. We walked around with her sharing even our own suggestions, which she welcomed with enthusiasm. Before we knew it, we were calling the owners of this magazine, because of all they do in the motorcycle community. Just like that, a partnership was formed, and The Bent Wrench had scheduled their first big event. Oh, by the way, mark your calendars for July 15th. Garza Law Firm and Thunder Roads® TN and KY will be back in Fredonia as they sponsor an evening of vendors, riders, AND Jasmine Cain. (Perfect timing as this is the music-themed issue) Now don’t worry, we didn’t forget about the ‘EAT’ part. We definitely spent time sampling the menu. A favorite is the spicy cheese curds and we understood why. Rachel shared with us her variety of special wraps and her upcoming brunch menu. However, what got our taste buds in overdrive was the deep-fried mac and cheese bites. The large smoker that sits on the property is the reason the pulled pork, ribs, and smoked chicken have become their signature meals. Rachel, we have to tell you, that your wish to be known for incredible food, has come true. What was supposed to be a quick stop to stretch our legs and fuel our bellies, well ended up being this ‘Special Edition’ and the beginning of a wonderful partnership. Jeans & The Queen The Thunder Roads® TN and KY Team is always excited to meet new people when we are out and about. Whether it be at an event, photoshoot, or just out riding within our community. On one of our recent trips to Williamsburg Kentucky, our team was set up at a great little bar on Main Street, called The Butchers Pub. We were there supporting one of our advertising partners, Back Roads of Appalachia, and their Bike Night Block Party. As we all were hanging out and having a great time, this band stepped on stage. When I tell you the room when silent as this ‘Queen’ began to sing, I mean it. Eyes and jaws were wide open. What an incredible sound this group had. Once they took a break, we struck up a conversation. They are a fairly new band, only 9 months together. You would have thought they had been playing for years. They play a variety of old and new hits. A Southern Rock/Pop band out of Jackson
County, TN. We were impressed to learn that ALL of the band members sing. Even more impressive, many of them ride motorcycles. Of course, knowing that this issue was dedicated to Music and Motorcycles, it was obvious we needed to include them. We didn’t stop there, we decided to inquire if the ‘Queen’ Olivia would be willing to be our Centerfold for June. She happily accepted and the next day met us at Wildcat Harley Davidson with guitar in hand. Be sure to check her out on the next page. Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame
A MOTORCYCLISTS DESTINATION When we asked people what they think of when they hear Kentucky, some say the Kentucky Derby, most proudly yell “GO WILDCATS”, others mention the coal industry, and of course, Bourbon. However, rarely does someone immediately think of music. In staying with our Motorcycles and Music theme of this issue, we decided to do some exploring outside of the trails and great riding in Kentucky. (of course, not too far off, since every rider will want to stop by this location) In 2002, a vision was brought to reality with the opening of The Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum. With so many Kentuckians having made a significant contribution to the Music Industry, why not honor them! Now when building this honorary site, an ordinary building just would not do. Not when you can make it unique to any other museum and have a historical significance. The entrance to the building was once the original riding stables of Renfro Valley founder, John Lee Lair. That portion of the building now houses the visitor center and an incredible gift shop with a variety of products and souvenirs. Most of the original structure of the stable 24
is still intact and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. One of the biggest misconceptions is that the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame focuses on just bluegrass or country artists, when in fact it contains memorabilia and artifacts that highlight the career of over 50 inductees from a wide variety of genres, such as Lorretta Lynn, Rosemary Clooney, even The Backstreet Boys. The honors are not only for performers but also for songwriters, publishers, promoters, managers, broadcasters, and even comedians. The museum showcases many music professionals who have made a significant contribution to the music industry in Kentucky and around the world. There are many reasons to stop in and enjoy all that the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame has to offer, especially for those with a desire to increase their knowledge of Kentucky’s music and or music fundamentals in general.

GUN CARRY WHILE RIDING
There is a question we get asked from time to time, usually by new gun holders, so we thought we’d answer it here. What is the best handgun to carry while riding? The answer is we don’t know. I know what I carry, and it’s the best one for me, but the only one that can answer that question is you. The first step in choosing a firearm should be deciding your realistic budget; keep in mind that you usually get what you pay for. Most shops have layaway, or you can save up, but I don’t think personal protection is the place to pinch pennies. Inexpensive guns tend to suffer from reliability problems and have fewer accessories like holsters, sights, and extra magazines. When carrying your weapon, a secure holster is a must; watching your shiny new handgun bouncing and sliding down the road because you stuck it in your waistband or a cheap, one-size-fits-most holster is not a good idea. Once you have decided how you will carry it and what your budget is, you can begin the search. Deciding on a caliber isn’t as important as it used to be. Modern ammunition has made that question irrelevant. There are good personal defense rounds available for almost every caliber out there, and the differences are getting smaller. You can pore over all the dimensions, statistics, and photo comparisons you want, but there’s no way to really know how the gun will feel in a holster or in your hand until you try it. I like to go to a full-service gun shop with a range onsite like our page sponsor Tennessee Gun Country. You can rent several different guns and even the same gun in different sizes and calibers and spend some quality time with each one to see which ones you like and can shoot well. Most popular handguns from quality manufacturers come in at least 3, sometimes four sizes. There are no industry standards that define a full-size, compact, subcompact, or micro gun, but here are some general guidelines. Full size, or duty guns, are usually the biggest. Usually, the easiest to shoot due to the longer sight radius, added mass to help control recoil, and increased magazine capacity. Still, because of their size, they are much harder to conceal.
BULLET POINTS Compacts are usually slightly smaller than full size in every dimension; most compact guns are just chopped-down versions of their full-size brothers. Shorter barrels and shorter grips with the smaller magazine capacities but similar in almost every way. Some even share internal parts with the larger versions. They are a little easier to conceal than full size, and they are still very easy to shoot. Sub compacts, in most cases, are different guns and not just cut-down versions of larger guns. They have smaller magazines and shorter barrels, and they are usually much lighter, so recoil can start to become a problem depending on the caliber you choose. The subs are very easy to conceal and can be carried almost anywhere on your person. Shooting them isn’t difficult, but they have a shorter sight radius, making distance shooting more challenging. The smallest are micro compacts. These are sometimes referred to as “Pocket Pistols.” There are some excellent pocket guns, and no, you don’t have to carry them in your pocket, but you can. If you have larger hands, some of these guns are too small, they have tiny magazines, the short barrels make them hard to aim, so some don’t even bother with sights, and being lightweight can make recoil a problem. Still, the biggest knock I hear against the micro compact guns is magazine capacity. Countless studies show most personal defense shootings happen inside 21 feet, and three or fewer rounds are fired, so magazine capacity doesn’t seem as crucial as some believe. So, the short answer to the question “what is the best handgun to concealed carry while riding?” Whatever you are most comfortable with! Ride easy and shoot straight.

Chances are, he isn’t living in a mansion on the beach with an outrageous stock portfolio! GET WHAT WE ARE SAYING? IT’S QUITE SIMPLE! If you get hit on your bike by a driver riding dirty, or even dusty, your UM and UIM coverage will help cover medical and property expenses. SHALL WE SAY IT LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK?

So, do all of you motorcyclists reading this #understandtheassignment? CALL YOUR INSURANCE AGENT, OR A FRIEND’S AGENT, OR YOUR COUSIN’S BEST FRIEND’S WIFE’S AGENT! OR JUST CALL HER. Whoever you are calling…. DO IT NOW! OH, AND ONE MORE THING… ASK EM’ TO STACK EM’ AND MAX EM’ Be sure to get the MAX possible of UM and UIM coverage. Then ask them to stack them. That’s right. You can have your uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage stacked, effectively doubling your coverage in the event of an accident. DO WE NEED TO RECAP? NO? I
t’s 2021; deep into the Pandemic and I’m crashing. Hard. No. It wasn’t a wide turn into an oncoming lane. And it wasn’t some driver carelessly texting their way to Godknows-where with reckless abandon. It was a life crash. Let’s face it. We all went through some stuff in the last few years. Some level of disruption and isolation took its toll on everyone. For me, the timing couldn’t have been worse. Rapidly approaching 40, I was headlong into midlife crisis territory; weary of the way I’d been living the last 10 years. I was dead tired of living for bosses and churches, family, and everyone else. Everyone but me. I’d gotten badly lost somewhere along life’s road. But that is just the skin-deep piece of it. My marriage had hit rock bottom. My friends no longer seemed “there” for me, and basically, all of the relationships I had in life felt skin deep. Here I was feeling stuck at the bottom of a pit, and I had no idea who would even give me that hand up if I reached out. I was deep in the mental break of builtup expectations, anxieties, and depression. That’s when I started back on a journey to find myself and get back in touch with who I am and what I wanted and needed in this life. That is when I re-discovered motorcycling. Like many others in that wintery season of mid-life, I needed to see and feel that Spring coming on like warm memories at Mama’s house on Easter with baby chicks, blooming flowers, fried chicken, and family. Those of us in “the club”, we get it. Whether you’re in an actual club or not, you’re part of something greater than yourself any time you nut up and throw a fire-fueled two-wheeled iron horse between your legs and take off down the road. 36
Seasoned riders may occasionally take the passion for granted or throw up lines of distinction about who gets accepted and who doesn’t, but luckily most riders realize that’s all bullsh*t. Riding is about passion and living for the moment. It’s something that taps into our most basic human experience. It can simultaneously get us both out of our heads and more into them than we’ve ever been, all at the same time. There’s a flow of energy that’s both calm and exhilarating, and we can share that passion with others.
So remember that when you’re out there. We are one. You have a tribe. We’re all one amazing body of riding enthusiasts. So stop snarling at those sport-bikers burning up the pavement - or rolling your eyes at the high-riding boomer-on-a-beamer, or furrowing your brows at the big, bad biker man in black. They’re all just out to get a big, beautiful piece of this thing we call wind therapy. And it’s something all of us could use a little more of. Bubba and Earl were sipping ‘shine’ on the front porch when a truck went past loaded up with rolls of sod. Bubba proudly boasts, “I’m-a-gonna do that when I win that there lottery. “Do wut?” askes Earl. Bubba points and yells, “Send my dang lawn out to git mowed and fluffed.” -------------------------------------------------------------A woman whom is 3 months pregnant falls into a deep coma. Six months later, she awakes and is told she has twins, a boy and a girl. She’s so relieved until the Doctor informs her that they had to put names on the birth certificate and that it was lucky her brother was available to name the twins. The girl moans, “Oh no, not my brother! He’s such a moron.....Lawdy! what did he name the girl?” The Doctor says, ‘He thought long and hard and then said it was official, her name was Denise.” The woman is shocked and says “Well, that’s actually very pretty. So what did he name the boy?” The Doctor mumbled “Denephew”. -------------------------------------------------------------A Gynecologist had become fed up with malpractice insurance and HMO paperwork, and totally burnt out. Hoping to try a completely different career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic. He went to the local Tech College, signed up for evening courses, attended diligently, and learned all he could. When the time of the Practical Exam approached, the Gyno prepared carefully for weeks, and completed the exam with phenomenal skill. When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had only gotten a score of 150%. Fearing an error, he called the Instructor saying, “I don’t want to be ungrateful for such an outstanding result of an added 50%, but is there an error in this grade?” The Instructor said, “During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of your total score. You again put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also 50% of the mark.” The Instructor then added, “I gave you an extra 50% because you did it All through the muffler, which I’ve never seen in my entire career and it is literally a thing of beauty to behold.” 38
Why is abbreviated such a long word? If a word is misspelled in the dictionary, how would we ever know? If Webster wrote the first dictionary, where did he find the words? If you claim to be ‘in the middle of nowhere’ how can you be sure where the middle is? Why do we say something is ‘out of whack’? What is a whack? Why does ‘slow down’ and ‘slow up’ mean the exact same thing? Why does ‘fat chance’ and ‘slim chance’ mean the same thing? Why are they called ‘tug boats’? Aren’t they really ‘push’ boats? Why are they called ‘stands’ when they are made for sitting? Why is it called ‘after dark’ when it really is ‘after light’? Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard in movies, ever? Why do ‘overlook’ and ‘oversee’ mean totally opposite things? Why doesn’t glue stick to the inside of the bottle? Why do we instinctively press harder on the buttons on a remote when we think the batteries are dead? Would a fly that injured its’ wings be called a walk? Why is it that rain ‘drops’ but snow ‘falls’? Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavors and dishwashing liquid is made from real lemons? Why are they called ‘apartments’ when they are all stuck together? Shouldn’t they be called ‘compartments’? If all roads are unsafe to travel, how does the guy that drives the snowplow get to work? What was the best thing before sliced bread? Why did cemeteries and crematoriums raise their prices and blame it on ‘the cost of living’? What exactly is the ‘speed of dark’? Why do noses run and feet smell? Why is it called a hamburger when it’s made of beef? If ‘con’ is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress? I can answer that.....Yes!!! -------------------------------------------------------------An apology, to my wife I am sorry. The kids were playing some sort of cowboy game, our 5 year old kept yelling “Yippee Ki Yay” I did not think. Instinctively, I finished the phrase. And now he knows a new word. Well, technically 2 words.

MFC MC WHO WERE ARE The MFC is the Military, Firefighter, and Cops Motorcycle Club. We are intensely proud Americans who believe in the principles that this country was founded upon and the rule of law. Our founding members were former members of a club open only to active and retired law enforcement officers who ride Harley Davidson Motorcycles. After years of turning away potential members because they didn’t meet membership requirements, they decided a new club was needed to fill the void and the MFC was created. WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO Our Patch defines in-depth, who we are and what we stand for. The center patch contains the Shield, a universal symbol used by the military, law enforcement, and firefighters/ EMS as an emblem of service. The Black Slash represents the black banner we all wear on our shields when a Brother or Sister has given their lives in the defense of our country and its people. The Red Field represents the blood of those who have sacrificed all in the name of freedom. The Lightning Bolts represent the swift and sure response in defense of our Brothers and Sisters in time of need. The Skull is the universal symbol of bikers, and its prominence represents the common bond of our shared passion for riding motorcycles. The Banner at the base of the shield is written in Latin “Libertas Vel Mors” and states our core belief – “Freedom or Death” OUR COMMUNITY SERVICE Our club participates in hosting fundraising events for charities, destination rides to special events or locations, benefits that support our service branches and or related causes, parades, funeral escorts, member-only social events, competitions, and more.MFC MC gives back to those who made this country great and free. All chapters donate to charities of their choice. The Rocky Top Chapter has chosen PTSD as our cause. Most of us within this group either experience or understand the toll PTSD takes on those enduring it and their everyday lives. If we can bring comfort and more understanding to our community regarding PTSD, then we feel the work we do is well worth it. In addition, we work side by side with donations to other MFC MC chapters that are supporting their local law enforcement, military, and charity organizations.
