W
elcome to our second issue of Thunder Roads® Tennessee/Kentucky. Without going further, it is important to tell you about our First issue. As you know our team acquired the magazine just over two months ago. And within that period, we went to work. Not a single one of us had created and assembled back-to-back pages of content, gathered pictures, coordinated photo shoots, categorized events, edited articles, approved ad graphics, added an extra ten pages, and laid out the printing portfolio for a magazine. And yet, collectively, that is exactly what our magazine Staff did! An important note-not only did we retain 100% of current advertisers, we also added FOUR new ones. We were a few days late in printing, and it was the right thing to do because it was imperative that we lead with our best foot forward. We are happy with the results. We hope you are too. In addition to what our magazine Staff did, our internal process owners also had several firsts. New accounts had to be added to our current bookkeeping programs and new payment methods were installed so that our readers could purchase merchandise and services with ease. Our website gurus went to work on updating information and creating new landing URLs to accommodate our interactive advertising initiative. Additionally, our annual subscription list, and our entire distribution list had to be merged with our new Kentucky outlets and then scrubbed for accuracy; hours of meticulous phone calling to confirm business locations and ownership. As you
can imagine, there is more, much more. To be clear, this venture is and will always be a team effort. When you see our magazine staff at events and in the public eye understand that they are supported and enabled by the best our entire organization has to offer. Recently, our staff conducted a two-day mini blitz in Kentucky. The purpose of the visit was twofold. First, to get our magazine in front of Kentucky’s riders. Secondly, to build relationships in communities so that we foster and cultivate growth around the collective effort to expand motorcycle tourism in both Tennessee and Kentucky. Working with our fabulous partners at Backroads of Appalachia, particularly its motorcycle outreach coordinator, Jay Fryman, they met and spoke with dozens of small business owners in over six counties and distributed hundreds of magazines. Word has it that they also met a Kentucky icon in their travels. Look for that story inside. Upon returning to Tennessee, they went to work on assessing the trip and updated our brand expansion implementation strategy for the future. Oh, and guess what? They returned just in time to begin the process for February’s issue of Thunder Roads® Tennessee/Kentucky! Never underestimate the ability of an incredibly motivated and capable team of professionals. It is what we do for you, our riders, and readers. Sincerely, Team Thunder Roads® Tennessee/Kentucky
