As a child of the bayou, I remember trekking through the mud alongside the cypresses and weeping willows. The musky smell of the swamp still lingers in the back of my mind, as I recall the eerie sensation of the wind dropping, the air cooling and time dissipating into a still quietness. The forest, its trees and the space between was my home. My love and respect for nature is my obsession and passion. I enjoy backpacking, camping, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, and fishing…anything and everything that allows me to explore the wilderness!
I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Landscape Architecture and continued my professional career specializing in zoological institutions and environmental remediation. This included everything from animal habitats, visitor spaces, commercial and residential developments to contaminated landscapes.
After seven years in the design industry, I felt a strong desire for an outdoor career in environmental conservation and education--so I became a Recreation Ranger for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. My days are spent patrolling the great outdoors, managing, and maintaining campgrounds and public lands as well as curating guided hikes, tours, and programs.
I am a full-time Park Ranger but a Landscape Architect at heart and strive to be a steward of the environment, to create spaces that inspire, educate, and instill a sense of responsibility in all to protect and preserve nature.
The project opened in Spring 2019 and has been awarded “Best Zoo Exhibit in 2020” by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers Choice Award.

PROVIDING SHADE FOR THE ANIMALS IS IMPORTANT FOR THEIR HEALTH AND WELLBEING. BY MODELING THE SITE AND PERFORMING SHADE STUDIES, WE ARE ABLE TO DETERMINE WHERE SHADE TREES AND OTHER DESIGN ELEMENTS SHOULD BE LOCATED.
