Using this opportunity, the gallery in 2020 announced an open call for new acquisitions in fashion, jewellery, and product and graphic design. An expert jury chose the 68 most refined works from the nearly 600 submissions. The open call was answered primarily by young artists, who would be helped by the direct purchase especially during the pandemic. The first presentation of purchases took place at the start of October 2020 in the former monastery of Gabriela Loci in Prague when it hosted Designblok. For its exhibition at Designblok, the Moravian Gallery won the prize for Extraordinary Achievement.
Exhibitions And Interiors
Contemporary designers are represented at the new Museum of Applied Arts through not only their work, but also the form of the exhibitions, interior, and terraces. Maxim Velčovský, the Edit! studio, and Radek Wohlmuth together arranged open repositories of glass, porcelain, and ceramics and also designed how to install them to maximize the experience of viewing thousands of collection items. The Olgoj Chorchoj studio interlaced the museum’s architecturally interesting heights with a system of bridges offering visitors the best perspective of the interior and exhibitions.
