DISTRICT
CON V E N TION Fun, Adventure, Wonder, Love, and mystery. This year’s 2014 District Convention was no different from any other year. Phenomenal! Without a doubt, April 24-27th was a weekend that was absolutely unforgettable and we all know that the biggest trepidation was the farewell breakfast! The very first day, when you enter the Sheraton hotel, we all underwent the stressful unloading and checking in to our hotel, but once you finished, thump thump thump, you rushed to the welcoming committee in awe. Outside of the Lone Star rooms awaited a giant bounce house that just shouted “come play!” and other small interactive games that allowed in some pan vs. hook rivalry. Just who was the real winner of this rivalry? We didn’t find out until the end of the opening session! The winner was team Hook! After that thrilling announcement, we all laughed our hearts out to Kevin Wanzer as he told us about the meanings behind Hawaiian words and their relation to the Key Club family. And of course, he definitely got us chucking with his adorable laugh and the moment where he showed us a photo of his “not son”. (All of you opening session peeps will understand!) The following day was Contests & Awards, which I have to say some of the people that performed that night should have been on America’s Got Talent! Michelle Wan did a tradition Chinese dance that was gracefully executed and placed 3rd place! Aysha Moneer, new lieutenant governor, told a speech that penetrated our hearts! This night wasn’t a night about winning, it was a night where we expressed ourselves in front of our family! Especially during Governor’s Ball we definitely showed off our fantastic smelling deodorant! NOT! BUT! I’d be lying if I didn’t say that the Governor’s Ball wasn’t a ground shaking, fantastic night! In conclusion, District Convention was the weekend. The best weekend ever for any Key Club fanatic, Key Club friends, and most of all our Key Club family.
