We all know that the difference between a dream holiday and one that causes recurring nightmares is having the right gear.
Luckily Tight Lines has nearly everything you need to ensure your customer's camping holiday is a success.
TENTS
A tent is an investment, and like all investments, it should be looked after. Nikwax Tent & Gear Solarproof is a great place to start, as it adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR), increases fabric strength and protects against UV deterioration. One application can double the effective life of the fabric.
wrong. Use their Tent Repair Kit, Nylon Tent Repair Kit and Tent Pole Repair Kit.
Another essential item is tent pegs. They’re small, but without them your customer's camping experience is likely to be less than ideal. If they need new tent pegs, Coghlan’s has a wide range of tent pegs plus mallets (both plastic and rubber) to hammer them in.

SLEEPING
Nothing is worse than a bad night’s sleep, especially when you’re on holiday. Luckily Domex sleeping bags are designed specifically for New Zealand conditions and have been keeping Kiwis snug for over 40 years.
If your customer wants to keep their sleeping bag nice and fresh, point them in the direction of a sleeping bag liner. Domex has liners available in polyester and silk, while the Coghlan’s range includes a mid-price point Sleeping bag liner that keeps sleeping bags warmer and drier by wicking moisture away.
LIGHT
Unless people are really glamping it most camping holidays don’t include electricity, so to continue the fun after the sun goes down, there needs to be a light source.
Ledlenser has now moved into the lantern market with the ML6 and the newly released ML4 (see more on page 5 about the ML4). As you’d expect from Ledlenser, these rechargeable lanterns are a feat of German engineering, offering a variety of light functions and easy dimming with the ML6 also doubling as a power bank.
Coghlan’s Tent Light is also great for providing a comfortable glow inside the tent or around the picnic table.
And don’t forget about Luci Lanterns, which are pretty much the cool kids on the lighting block. Inflatable, waterproof and solar powered, they are perfect for whenever power-free or batteryfree lighting is needed.
EATING AND DRINKING
Domex’s range of outdoor cooking equipment is good, solid just-do-the-joband-do-it-properly gear as you’d expect from this New Zealand brand. For drinking vessels at the campsite, Domex’s stainless steel mugs can’t be surpassed. Choose between the lightweight 450ml mug or the 350ml double walled mug, which keeps the contents hot while the outside is cool to the touch.
Coghlan’s also has a range of eating and drinking items. Their classic Camp Stove Toaster remains a best seller, along with cutlery, broilers, pot holders, toasting forks and drinking containers such as the 8 litre Expandable Water Carrier which features a comfortable carry grip and has sides that flatten when empty for easy storage. If your customer needs a larger supply of water at their campsite, Coghlan’s Collapsible Water Container has a capacity of 19 litres and the leakproof on/off spigot is removeable, so it’s super easy to fill.
When space is at a premium, you can’t go past HydraPak’s range of bottles and storage containers. The Stash 750ml and 1 litre bottles are the perfect size for personal hydration and fold down to barely nothing when not needed.
The best-selling Seeker water storage system lets you carry lots of water when needed but collapses down to the size of a fist when empty. The Seeker is available in 2 litre, 3 litre and 4 litre capacities, while the 8 litre Expedition is perfect for car camping or water for your base camp as with the large capacity you only have to collect water once.
OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS
We’ve always found a Leatherman tool a must-have for all those jobs around the camp. If your customers are planning on going backcountry, we recommend the Leatherman Signal, a 19 tools-in-one piece of genius that incorporates features like a fire-starting rod and emergency whistle.
For campers who can’t handle a holiday without technology, make sure you show them Powertraveller’s portable solar chargers, which enables them to keep their gadgets charged no matter where in the back blocks they are.
And don’t forget to make sure your customers are prepared for when Mother Nature misbehaves. Rainbird Stowaway jackets are a fabulous option as they are a fully lined, waterproof, breathable jacket yet they pack down into a small, take anywhere package. For more temporary protection from the elements there are ponchos available from Coghlan’s, including one specifically designed for kids (so they don’t have any excuse to sit in the car while the adults are packing up the tent in the rain).
