Take An All-American Road Trip at the 2018 Chamber Golf Classic!
Friday, September 21st Mirror Lake Golf Club | Villa Rica
The Douglas County Chamber will host the annual Chamber Golf Classic on Friday, September 21st at Mirror Lake Golf Club. More than 250 golfers are expected to participate in the 2018 Classic, presented by GreyStone Power. Golfers and participants will take an “All-American Road Trip” at this year’s tournament, with over 100 sponsors who will each create road trip destination themed exhibits and activities at each hole. This event is open to any golfer; you do not have to be a Chamber member to play. The Chamber Golf Classic has consistently been known as one of the most memorable golf tournaments in the region. Golfers will be treated to great meals all day at the Breakfast Café, Grills on the Green for lunch, and dinner at the 19th Hole After Par-TEE sponsored by Georgia Power. Golfers also have the opportunity to have a team photo taken with their names featured on the electronic (PGA style) leader board sponsored by Gas South. There will be more than 100 businesses represented including Gold Sponsors: Country Financial, Kaiser Permanente, and WellStar Douglas Hospital and Silver Sponsors: AT&T, Douglas County Board of Education, and HRC Engineers, Surveyors & Landscape Architects. Prizes will be awarded for the Putting Contest, Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin contests in addition to the chance to win a car during the Hole In One Contest. Golfers will be provided with swag bags sponsored by Assured Comfort Heating, Air & Plumbing, filled with great gifts and will also have a chance to win raffle prizes provided by sponsors at each hole on the course.

20/30 Fast Track Program Now Offered at Gold's Gym Douglasville. Gold’s Gym principal owner, Gordon Johnson, Wellness Director, Jennifer Hite, staff, clients, and Chamber representatives celebrated the new 20/30 FastTrack Program by holding a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting on June 14th. 20/30 FastTrack brings an awareness that teaches real food for real life. The program is offered at both Gold’s Gym locations in Douglasville.

Chapel Hill High Graduates Win 1st Place at FBLA National Competition. Myles Davis, Khalil Edmondson, and Cory Raxton, competed with more than 12,000 students at the national level in Emerging Business Issues. They had to research crowdsourcing as an effective way to raise money for a valid purpose; and argue the negative, that crowdsourcing is ineffective because it can be used for personal gain. They performed a six minute speech in front of a panel of judges. They first competed in a preliminary round against over 100 other teams from across the country. The top 14 finalists then competed in the performance finals. The Chapel Hill team placed first overall at the FBLA Awards of Excellence program.
Cultural Arts Council Awards Full Scholarships to Attend Summer Camps. The Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/ Douglas County and the Douglas County Department of Parks and Recreation joined forces once again to offer the annual intensive summer arts camp at Hunter Park. This year the CAC was happy to award 4 ART-portunity scholarships to deserving students in the Douglas County community. Two school scholarships were presented to Jadah Cooper and Jeselyn, both students at North Douglas Elementary and two community scholarship were presented to Emily Gay and Charnell Session. All four of these young ladies were presented their ART-portunity scholarship at the CACâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Annual Meeting which took place on Thursday, June 14th.
