Congratulations to the 2018 Chamber Raffle Winners! The Douglas County Chamber is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Douglas County Chamber Raffle. A total of 350 tickets were sold by the Chamber Board of Directors. The raffle drawing was held at the Comcast Business After Hours sponsored by Pioneer Land Group at The Centre at Arbor Connection on May 31st. The evening was full of anticipation and excitement as each ticket was drawn. The winner of the first ticket drawn for the $100 prize was Rosco Sayyar. The $500 prizes for every 50th ticket drawn were awarded to Valerie Howell, Chris Stanley, Nancy Webster and Peggy Walker; Sayward Messelter, Charles Camp, Chris Pumphrey, Trina Smith, and Ira Noble. The final two ticket holders were present at the event and after a quick negotiation, Deynna Jones-Respress and Kyle Gable split the $2,000 and $10,000 prizes, awarding them $6,000 each.

The Chamber Raffle supports the multiple community services and programs for Chamber Members such as networking events, monthly training seminars, the Buy Local program, and more. Cabin Fever Roasters Celebrates New Location in Douglasville

Meet Our Summer Intern, Maya Jackson!

Cabin Fever Roasters owner, Rick Aloisi and Gayla Meier, staff, customers, and Chamber representatives celebrated the official grand opening of their new location by holding a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting on May 21st. They are now located at 7475 Douglas Boulevard in Douglasville.

Bloom Our Youth, Inc. Now Serving Douglas County Bloom Our Youth, Inc. Marketing and Development Director, Kristin Melton, staff, and Chamber representatives gathered to hold a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting on May 23rd. Bloom Our Youth is a private, nonprofit foster care organization that recruits, supports and trains foster families. They are located in Fayetteville, but serve multiple communities including Douglas County throughout the state.

New Life Foundation, Inc. Celebrates Grand Opening of Discount Store New Life Foundation, Inc. (NLF) founder, Brenda Black, staff, friends, and Chamber representatives celebrated the grand opening of their retail store, NLF Discount Store, by holding a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting on May 24th. The NLF Discount Store is an outreach ministry of New Life Foundation, Inc. They are located at 2818 Fairburn Road in Douglasville.

The Farmer's Table Brings a Sweet Flavor to Douglas County The Farmer’s Table owner, Susan Henderson, family, staff, customers and Chamber representatives celebrated the grand opening of their new Sweet Shop by holding a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting on May 30th. The Farmer's Table is a local business and cafe featuring fresh fruits and vegetables sourcing those foods as close to home as possible. They are located at 3670 Highway 5 in Douglasville.

Maya is a junior at Georgia State where she majors in Political Science. She will be greeting guests as they walk in our door, and assisting with other projects. Welcome Maya!

AMP'D Gives Back to the Community During Their Serve Day Members of the Advancing Modern Professionals (AMP'D) program volunteered at Youth Villages Inner Harbour for their serve day on June 16th. The group gave a much needed face-lift to the current clothing closet at Youth Villages. They sorted through donations and grouped them by size, then put them in color-coded totes, complete with a key to reference to help staff locate things quickly. Local Businesses Unite to Surprise DCSS Teacher of the Year In a partnership created through the Chamber's Small Business Sustainability Program, West Georgia Cornhole, Merle Norman Cosmetics, and the Douglas County School System surprised Teacher of the Year, Lauren Cook, with a custom set of cornhole boards featuring her student's hand prints.

Arbor Place Donates a Store Full of Clothing to Two Local Nonprofits When a shoe store at Arbor Place Mall abruptly vacated their location, the mall made the quick decision to make a positive community impact from of a rare situation. The store left behind an entire store stocked with woman's accessories, men and women's clothing, and more than 4,000 pairs of brand new shoes. Arbor Place reached out to Loving Hands Ministry and Crossroads Church and they both responded quickly to the opportunity. Both nonprofits brought volunteers, multiple trucks, a church van, and cars to collect the donation and transport the product to their respective locations For more member news, visit www.douglascountygeorgia.com.
