Want to do something to support the local economy that is simple and fun while helping Douglas County’s future? It’s easy – play Chamber Buy Local Bingo presented by Bank of the Ozarks this holiday season! While there are abstract solutions to the recovery of the economy such as government spending programs, severe cutbacks in public services, or massive loans to large corporations, the DC Chamber is looking at a simple way to bring a boost to our local economy. Chapel Hill News & Views is partnering with the Chamber to “challenge” its members to BUY LOCAL from November 19 – December 17 and in return, participants can win big! 24 local businesses are featured on a Buy Local Bingo Card and invite locals to visit their businesses. Each business, in addition to the Douglas County Chamber and Douglas County Courthouse, will have Buy Local Bingo cards available. When a patron visits a business, they will receive a smark on their Bingo card. Once a participant has 18 of the 24 squares covered, they are eligible to be entered to win one of 24 door prizes and ultimately a $250 cash prize from Bank of the Ozarks.
Here’s how you play: 1) Pick up your Bingo card in the December issue of Chapel Hill News & Views, or at the DC Chamber, Douglas County Courthouse, Bank of the Ozarks, or one of the 24 participating businesses or print online at www.douglascountygeorgia.com 2) Visit 18 out of 24 businesses between November 19th and December 17th and receive a sticker validating your visit to each location. No purchase is necessary, but please consider shopping locally this holiday season.
“The Chamber is excited to partner with local businesses to help drive traffic and revenue to local businesses,”Douglas County Chamber 3) Turn in the completed Bingo card at the DC Chamber or Douglas County Courthouse President and CEO Kali Boatright stated.“With almost 70% of our Chamber members being small businesses of ten employees or less, we by noon on December 17th. The drawing for all 25 prizes will take place at the Chamber feel it is very important to support these businesses and what better way to support them than to get the community involved!” at noon. on December 18th. You do not have to be present to win. One entry per person. For more information on Buy Local Bingo, contact the Douglas County Chamber at 770.942.5022 or visit www.douglascountygeorgia.com. Tumors have nowhere to hide Patients now have somewhere to turn
The future of cancer treatment is here. And it’s only available at WellStar. WellStar is the only health system in metro Atlanta to offer TomoTherapy® and CyberKnife® for the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors.
TomoTherapy
All funds raised will benefit the Communities in Schools of Douglas County. The silent auction ends December 4th at noon.
Unlike conventional systems, which allow radiation to be delivered from only a few directions, TomoTherapy rotates in 360 degrees, meaning that treatments can be delivered continuously to the tumor from every angle. More beam directions give physicians more control in how they plan treatments – and more assurance that the dose will be confined to the tumor.
CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System The CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System involves no cutting, and for many, can offer a non-invasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of tumors. The system is composed of a radiation delivery device, which is mounted on a flexible robotic arm which enables CyberKnife to deliver radiation to tumors anywhere in the body. Its exceptional tracking ability eliminates the need for patients to have stabilizing head frames or limited breathing during treatment.
For more information, call 770-793-7550 or visit wellstar.org/cancercare.
The Fesitval of Trees will be held at the DC Courthouse on the 3rd floor. Follow the Facebook page: Douglas County Festival of Trees for pictures and updates!
