LEADING THE WAY THE CLASSES OF 2018 BEGIN THEIR JOURNEY Leadership Douglas 2018

Leadership Douglas is a program of the Douglas County Chamber Foundation. The mission of Leadership Douglas is to identify, encourage & develop leadership abilities so that its participants grow both personally & professionally. Through presentations, discussions and work sessions, the program seeks to inspire those who are willing to get involved. Participants are given the opportunity to meet and interact with current community and business leaders throughout the program. Participants in Leadership Douglas benefit from getting to know one another and from the exchange of ideas and experiences. The class members are exposed to these topics: leadership, government/judicial, economic development, social services, cultural diversity, education, public safety, recreation, and water resources.

DC Chamber Foundation Scholarship Winners and Founder's Award Announced The Douglas County Chamber announced the recipients of the annual Chamber Foundation Leadership Scholarships and 2017 Founders Award at the GreyStone Power Luncheon on May 16th. The Chamber Foundation coordinates community education and leadership programs including Leadership Douglas, Youth Leadership Douglas and the annual Chamber Leadership Scholarship. The recipient of the $1,000 Chamber Foundation Leadership Scholarship was Eleanor Rager, a graduating senior from Alexander High School. The runner up and recipient of a $500 zW ŽͲ ŚĂŝƌ͕ >ĂƵƌĂ DƵůůŝŶƐ ĂŶĚ ϮϬϭϳ &ŽƵŶĚĂƟŽŶ ^ĐŚŽůĂƌƐ

Chamber Foundation Leadership Scholarship was Jalen Brown, a graduating senior from Douglas County High School, who will attend Georgia Tech and major in International Affairs and Modern Language. The Chamber also awarded the Chamber Board Scholarship for $500 to Riddhi Patel from Arlington Christian School and will attend Mercer University in the fall and major in Biology. The Leadership Douglas Program involved alumni in nominating and selecting the Leadership Douglas Founder’s Award Recipient this year. Frank Smith is the recipient of the 2017 Leadership Douglas Founder’s Award. Frank has been incredibly supportive of the Leadership Douglas Program as an active alumni for the last five years and serves as an important part of our Health and Recreation Day program. He has opened two very successful organizations in Douglas County, The Pantry and The Care Place, which focus on providing food and medical care to those who cannot afford it. He was a Leadership Douglas graduate in 2011.
