a wide variety of patients. “I wanted to be a surgeon early on, but there are so many sub-specialties that you need a little experience in each before making a decision,” McClinton said. “ENT was a good mix of medicine and surgery, which provided an avenue to take control over an entire region of the body that contained almost all the systems – respiratory, gastro-intestinal, endocrine (hormonal), and nervous systems.” While initially planning to study aeronautical engineering at Brigham Young University, McClinton said he was inspired to go into medicine by several of his roommates who were studying pre-med. “I began taking more biology, microbiology – and decided that was the way to go,” McClinton recalled. From there, he attended medical school at Tulane where he decided that the ear, nose and throat option gave him the most flexibility for treating a variety of patients. Following three years of active duty as a flight surgeon with the Air Force, McClinton completed his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Miami. He then went into private practice in 2002 and ultimately found his way to Piedmont Newnan where he has worked as an employed physician since 2015. Now, he’s starting his own practice across the street. "The move here from Piedmont was instigated by a decision to take complete ownership of my future and the desire to offer patients a broader scope of services without the challenging red tape that is required to get things done in a corporate environment,” McClinton said. In his new office, McClinton said he’ll provide all the services that a general otolaryngologist usually provides, in addition to more “cutting edge” services like in-office sinus surgery. “We will also offer patients comprehensive allergy diagnostic and treatment services,” he said. The office has partnered with next-door neighbor, the Coweta Hearing Clinic, audiologists who provide all audiological diagnostic testing and treatment for hearing loss, tinnitus, and also dispense hearing aids. “Our office is adjoined, so when a patient is here for hearing loss or a related condition, we immediately have their hearing test performed during their appointment,”

McClinton said. “We will also be providing in-office balance testing and even hope to provide therapy services in the future.” However, he won’t be entirely independent from the hospital. These days, McClinton said practicing medicine is a challenge due to so much regulation, hoops and requirements. Having Piedmont to help with these items is a major blessing. “We’re forced to follow documentation regulations, billing restraints and coding complications, and it would be difficult to do without the backing of the Piedmont Clinic,” McClinton said. "The Piedmont Clinic is a clinically integrated network of physicians both employed by Piedmont and in private practice, the latter being the majority of providers. It’s what allows Piedmont Healthcare System to provide superior medicine at a lower cost.” As part of the Piedmont Clinic, McClinton retains access to all medical records within the Epic electronic medical records system, carries the backing of the clinically integrated network, and maintains the independence to provide a greater array of services to his patients -- so, we’re getting the best of both worlds,” he said. McClinton also volunteers with the Coweta Samaritan Clinic, and said he plans to continue doing so.

Fresh cut salad shop slices deal on former Which Wich space
A
fresh approach to living and eating is coming to the Newnan Festival center in the former space of the Which Wich sandwich shop. Public relations and spokesperson for Salad Express, Woody Eturralde tells us, “The new restaurant in Newnan will feature mixed lettuce beds with many salad toppings to choose from, over a dozen delicious selections of salad dressings, and three types of grilled meats; salmon, chicken, and shrimp.” The motto of Salad Express, “Where healthy living starts,” speaks for itself. For example, they periodically cut fresh veggies throughout the day and display them to highlight the fresh experience. Customers can also enjoy creating a wrap from the healthy menu. Woody tells us, “We are excited about the response from the community, espe-
cially the surrounding gyms and offices.” The restaurant hopes to open sometime during early August. Renovations are currently underway for Suite 170. The Newnan Festival center is located at 311 Bullsboro Drive and boasts several tenants, including Einstein Bagel Company, Red Wing Shoes, Original Mattress Factory, and others. Salad Express has locations in nearby Peachtree City, Alpharetta, Atlanta, and soon to open in Montgomery, Alabama at the East Chase shopping center. Visit their website www.thesaladexpress.com to learn more. Jonathan is the creator of The City Menus LLC. The City Menus provides interactive community information including retail and restaurant openings as well as closings, construction, events, and job openings.

Faith is developed by meditating on God’s Word. Fear is developed by meditating on Satan’s lies. Such fearful meditation is called “worrying.” Don’t do it! The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. Use it to fight Satan every time he comes against you. Hold up your shield of faith and quench all of his fiery darts. Speak words of faith and fear will depart. – Read Psalm 27
