Browne confirmed the purchase of the property, but said the company has no immediate plans for the development of the location. “For decades, our family has purchased parcels of land throughout the region where we see long-term value,” Browne said. “The Sprayberry’s BBQ location off Highway 34 in Newnan is a great property in a wonderful town.
“While we have no current plans for the site, we continue to look for strategic areas of growth for The Varsity,” Browne continued. “We appreciate all of the interest in our growth and encourage people to visit any of our five existing locations.” The Sprayberry’s location on Highway 34 closed last week after nearly 25 years in business.

o you think you make the best cornbread in Coweta County? Put your recipe to the test during this year’s Fall Art Walk. You can enter your cornbread in the cook-off by emailing your name and phone number to news@newnan.com . Be sure to put “cornbread” in the subject line. Then, bring a batch of your cornbread to The Newnan Times-Herald on Sept. 20 before the Fall Art Walk, which starts at 5 p.m. Visitors to the newspaper during the Art Walk will sample the cornbreads and vote for their favorite. The winner will receive a prize and their cornbread will be the official cornbread for The Times-Herald during the fall Oktoberfest on Oct. 4. During Oktoberfest, there will be a chili cook-off at the Times-Herald and the winning cornbread will be served on the side. Last year, Rebecca Frey won the Golden Skillet award, whose recipe beat out 12 other entries. Along with bragging rights, Frey also won a complimentary
one-year subscription to The Newnan Times-Herald. The deadline to sign up for the cornbread contest is Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. For questions about the contest, email news@newnan.com .
When you have your heart to Christ, you inherited a great wealth - all the hundreds of promises God gave you in His Word. These promises rightfully belong to you as a child of God. You must claim them, believe them and act upon them. “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature.” 2 Peter 1:4 (KJV)

First Responder typically includes 911 operators, paramedics, police off icers, firefighters, rescuers, and other trained members of organizations connected with this type of work. Whenever you encounter an emergency situation, you are bound to interact with at least one of these kinds of individuals. Even in a non-emergent situation you may still seek the assistance of these professionals. Whenever there is an emergency, or a disaster strikes, we always look to these people for help. It takes a very brave, courageous, and composed individual to work any of these jobs. Not many people out there are willing to put their lives on the line for a complete stranger. The families of some of these First Responders wonder every single day if their loved one will return home safely after the end of a long and diff icult day. Whether it be a medical emergency, a house fire, a natural disaster, we can always count on these people to step up and help the people around them. Coweta County is truly blessed with some of the best and bravest First Responders. As a community, everyone seems to look out for one another and hold the town’s best interests close to heart. Next time you see a First Responder around town, be sure to stop them and thank them for their service to this community. By working together, we can all make this town even better and safer for our families. If you are interested in becoming involved with the First Responders, you can join the The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program. This program educates members of the community about disaster preparedness for hazards and situations that impact our area. Trainees learn disaster response skills, such as fire safety, search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. You can learn more at www.citizencorps.gov. It’s important that our community works together to find ways to aid our First Responders and to show our gratitude and appreciation to these outstanding people. This community still has a small town vibe and citizens look out for one another. Working together not only brings us close, but also helps us to have a safer and healthier community.

at the Coweta County Sheriff 's Department on Greison Trail to thank our local police officers for their service. We encourage our community to join us in showing our appreciation to these outstanding officers.
