Ace Beer Growlers: Nothing you need, but everything you want

I

t’s been six years since Jason Kanner opened the doors to Ace Beer Growlers on the court square. Originally a destination for craft beer and wine, Kanner has slowly introduced a variety of items over the years based on a simple principle. “If I have to leave my house to purchase something, I should just sell it at my store,” Kanner said. “I can’t be the only person who’s looking for that item." Last year, Kanner became a platinum Traeger dealer. Traeger pellet grills use 100 percent all-natural

hardwood fuel to infuse food with flavorful smoke, making food taste delicious and most of all, memorable. The pellet grill can be used to bake, braise, roast and barbecue different types of foods. As a platinum dealer, Kanner offers a full assortment of Traeger grills, including the Timberline – Traeger’s top-of-the-line model. He also offers accessories and services for the grills. “Once we started selling grills, we saw the need for folks to cook

unique things on them,” Kanner said. Kanner saw the value in becoming a butcher, and now offers fresh standing rib roasts, 10 oz. filets, prime ribeye, briskets, butts, pork belly and sausages. He recently began importing U-10 dry scallops from Massachusetts and Japanese A5 wagyu beef. “Anything we’ve ever had trouble finding, that’s what we decide to sell,” Kanner said. “We can’t be the only ones. It’s really just the evolution of a small business.” Along with the beer, wine, meat and grill selections, Kanner also offers Rockwood lump charcoal, Smithy Ironware, a wide assortment of pellets for the Traeger grills, spices, rubs, cigars and even gun safes. Fire Mountain Coffee, roasted in Newnan, is also readily available. With the Christmas season in full swing, Kanner hopes you’ll come by and peruse their wide selection of items that would make you the hit of any holiday gather-

ing. The feeling of Ace Growlers harkens back to the general store days of yore, but with a dash of mancave sensibility. Walking into the store, you’re heartily greeted and usually asked what your pleasure is. For Kanner, it’s just a natural continuation of what he would want in a store. “We pride ourselves on having nothing you need and everything you want,” he said. "And if we don't have it, we can get it."

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 Do not run from God. Run to him. Receive His forgiveness. Receive His cleansing. No matter how badly you've sinned, He's eager to forgive and to cleanse you of all unrighteousness. Now this is the confidence that we have in HIM, that if we ask anything according to HIS WILL, HE HEARS US. 1 John 5:14

Little Black Dress fundraiser set for Dec. 16

BY CLAY NEELY clay@newnan.com

T

he third annual Little Black Dress Party is just around the corner and organizers are hoping to make it the most successful one yet. What initially began as an informal dinner party to raise money for the Howard Warner Community Center playground quickly grew into a holiday tradition to help give back to the community, according to organizer Joy Barnes. “All girls like to get dressed up. It was a good thing,” Barnes said. She said the basic concept was, “Let’s just throw a party.” Last year, the group raised more than $6,000, which was donated to several Title 1 elementary schools across the county.

This year’s event will be held on Dec. 16 at Lillian Gardens in downtown Newnan. The event will feature food, dancing, a cash bar, photo booth and live auction featuring items from a number of local businesses and services. Sponsorships for the party and donations for the auction are still being accepted. Over 100 women attended last year’s event and Barnes is hoping this year’s attendance will be double that. “It’s a fun time of the year for a girl’s night out event and for a great cause,” Barnes said. Admission is $35, which includes food and one drink at the bar. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at Eventbrite or LillianGardens.com, or at the door on the day of the event. For more information, contact Lillian Gardens at 770-251-1206 or email admin@ lilliangardens.com
