he parking lot at Piedmont Newnan Hospital was full this weekend, not with patients, but with community members who showed up to pray over hospital employees. Saturday and Sunday night, community members organized a time to meet at the hospital to pray. Participants stayed in their cars to comply with social distancing and used their hazard lights to show employees and patients that they are there for them. “The prayer vigil outside Piedmont Newnan Hospital tonight was so emotional,” Patient Care Technician Carrigan Mackinen posted on her Facebook page. “It's amazing to see how much our community cares and comes together in tough times like these! Small acts of kindness like this makes everything we do even more worth it.” Word of Saturday night’s event was spread through social media. Sunday, Peachtree City Christian Church organized a time to pray at both Piedmont Newnan and Piedmont Fayette

THE DAYSPRING FROM ON HIGH!
“My visitation is here and near you now. I am the light in your darkest tunnel. Yes now, I am the day that springs forth from on high and you shall see the way of escape out of every trial.”

hospitals. Peachtree City Christian Church’s Communications Director Tiffany Bullington said the church has several members who work at both hospitals, and they wanted to find a way to show their support. Bullington said the church reached out to administrators at PNH, and they said the best time to hold the prayer rally would be Sunday at 7 p.m. This is when they have the largest number of employees on campus. The church provided a Spotify playlist of worship songs to listen to and a guided prayer via social media. Attendees turned on their hazard lights and headlights and prayed for 15 minutes. Bullington said staff members came out of the hospital to wave to the supporters. She said she had “no idea” so
many people were going to turn out. “It speaks volumes about our community,” she said. In addition to both nights of prayer, community members also left encouraging messages with sidewalk chalk in the employee parking lot. Bullington said the church is planning on holding another night of prayer in April. “I know this staff is at maximum stress level,” she said. “Several people have reached out to me and said that show of support lifted their spirits so much.” Denise Veal is a patient at the hospital, and she said the employees that came in her room were emotional by the outpouring of support. “I was very emotional and blessed to witness such an outpouring of love towards the staff and patients,” said Veal.
“I have seen nurses worn out, just kind of going through the motions.” She said the nurses were looking forward to the community coming out to pray for them. Naman Patel, a surgical nurse at PNH, posted a video of Saturday night’s prayer to his Facebook page, which now has nearly 100,000 views. “My family and friends say, ‘Don't go to work and stay home,’” said Patel. “My answer is we're soldiers who work inside borders fighting the invisible enemy, COVID-19, at the frontline. Some of us have been staying away from our parents, kids and family because we are afraid to spread the virus.” “It's very hard, working physically and emotionally draining long hours, but to see that the whole community is with us is amazing. Together we are strong,” he said.
Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. (Luke 1:78-79).
T
he Lord is the day that springs up from the darkness! No matter what you are dealing with or trying to sort through. God is always the light that leads you out of it. The reason we often have trouble following Him out is because we are too busy examining the darkness. We go over our trials, work problems, financial problems, health issues and family troubles again and again trying to figure a way out. We need to refocus our eyes on the Lord. He is the Light. He is the dayspring. The best part of it is that He is more than willing to shine the light and help you. Not only is He the Light, but He is merciful to give it to us. You may not feel like the light guiding you is very bright today, but you can get out of a tunnel with just a flashlight! It doesn’t take much to guide you to safety. Look for the light of God guiding you everyday, every moment, and in everything. Mercy is leading you out today!
Prayer
Dear Lord, I thank you for your mercy that is shining light upon me. Help me to see Your guiding hand in every situation. I make a choice to take my eyes off the darkness right now and I stand in the light of Your mercy! In Jesus’ Name, amen!

Heirloom Market Co. & Bakeshop is working on a promotion where for every box of donuts they sell, they will donate a boxed lunch to a first responder or health care employee.

The Heirloom Market donut initiative helps feed first responders, and allows the business to continue to pay employees, Owner Justin Gibson said.

eirloom Market Co. & Bakeshop in Sharpsburg is using one of its bestsellers – donuts – to give back to local first responders and health care employees. Owners Justin and Laura Gibson started a promotion this week that for each box of a dozen donuts they sell, they will provide a boxed lunch for those serving the community as nurses, firefighters or police officers. So far, Heirloom has sold 1,000 boxes of donuts. The goal is to sell 5,000 in six weeks, to feed all the first responders and nurses in both Coweta and Fayette counties, Justin said. “It’s been a really good response so
far,” Justin said. “We’re trying to keep up with all the orders.” He said at the end of each week, they will tally how many boxes of donuts they’ve sold to come up with a number for lunch donations. Justin said they are contacting the local fire and police departments and hospitals to find out how many meals they need. Justin said he was a firefighter for seven years and sympathizes with what first responders are going through. He also said he is related to several nurses and wanted to help them out during this time. “We want to use our platform to help other people,” he said. “It’s a way for
people to jump on board and band together and say thanks.” Selling the donuts also helps Heirloom continue to pay its employees. When many started practicing social distancing due to COVID-19, Justin said the business took a 95 percent hit in sales. He said Heirloom is unique because it's a restaurant and a market with 70 different vendors. Justin said they didn’t want to shut down completely and have to lay off employees, so they decided to close everything but continue to make donuts for curbside pickup. Justin said continuing to sell the donuts is safe because there is little to no
contact between employees and customers. Customers can pay over the phone, and they don’t have to go into the building to pick them up. He also said donuts are a good pickme-up for families that have been stuck in their house because of school and work closures. Some families are supporting the initiative by donating money in the amount of a box of donuts, Justin said. “We’re here because we love our town,” Justin said. “We love giving back and helping out when we can.” Updates about donating lunches to first responders and donut sales will be posted on Heirloom Market’s Facebook page.
