Catch Some Relief: Local Fisherman wants to relieve Coweta’s pain, anxiety
C
BY JILL WHITLEY
THE NEWNAN TIMES-HERALD
Catch Some Relief owner Trinity Mealor shows off his company’s water-soluble CBD drink drops and topical CBD pain relief cream
atch Some Relief Hemp and CBD dispensary is a small, family owned business. Owner Trinity Mealor, a Coweta native, left home in June of 2018 to open the first hemp dispensary in Tennessee. After the success of his Tennessee Hemp Company, and once it became legal to grow and process premium hemp in the state of Georgia, he returned to bring what he’d learned about the plant to his hometown: “This isn't just another CBD shop. Our main goal is wellness and advocacy and education. The prohibition of cannabis really vilified it- Hemp has over 50,000 uses. What we're focusing on right now are the research studies and the anecdotal evidence that shows that CBD reduces anxiety and inflammation. In ten years, who knows what the science will show?” The science behind CBD, or cannabidiol, is relatively new,Mealor says, but promising. “Education and awareness of the benefits of the endocannabinoid system is very important to us, and we try to give every client the most up to date information possible. CBD is just one
of over 113 cannabinoids found in cannabis. It’s shown to relieve inflammation, reduce anxiety, and help control pain. CBD is an all-natural supplement that has no known side effects. Cannabinoids found in cannabis feed the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is a homeostatic system in the human body that helps promote healthy cell functioning through the central nervous system.” While the business was originally inspired by Mealor’s love of fishing- he first began noticing his own pain issues during the repetitive motions of casting, reeling, catching, and cleaning fish- he says that nearly everyone could benefit from the inflammation and anxiety-relieving properties of CBD. “While all of our products are made for fishermen, by fishermen, anyone can benefit from the cannabis plant. Repetitive motion and high activity levels, whether you are a roofer or an athlete or work at the new Amazon facility, will naturally cause inflammation-related pain or anxiety, and our topical creams,

CATCH SOME RELIEF From page 1 premium hemp strains for smoking, and water-soluble CBD drops help to relieve those quickly.” In fact, while oil and gummies seem to be the most popular consumable form of CBD, Mealor refuses to carry it in his store. The reason? “Bio-availability”, he says. “I’m not here to beat up on oils. I know a lot of ethically sourced, wellmade oils that I think are great. It’s just that you have to take so much more CBD oil to see a beneficial effect when you can take a much smaller dose of our water-soluble or smokeable product.” The difference in the bioavailability between CBD oil and a water-soluble CBD drop is significant, Mealor explains, and comes down to particle size. “CBD oil needs to be taken sublingually, or under the tongue, and you only get 36-45% of what the dosage on the bottle actually claims, and the bioavailability of a CBD gummy is only 6-15%. Our counter to these products are water-soluble cap-

grams you pay for”. Mealor also says that Catch Some Relief is different from other dispensaries in that he asks first-time CBD patients to keep a journal of their symptoms, and start at the lowest possible dose and work their way up to find the dosage that works best for them. “I’m not looking for people to come in here and spend tons of money on products they don’t really need. I’d much rather have repeat business that trusts me to guide them into monthly wellness”. When asked about the connection between CBD and THC, Mealor grows animated: “THC has been so vilified that it has given cannabis a terrible name. It's not even the most valuable cannabinoid. We don't know which one is yet, because the research is still being done. My customers aren’t looking to get high. They’re looking for wellness”. “With the exception of our premium hemp selection, all of our products are THC free so you don’t have to worry about failing a drug test. Even with the hemp, there’s no feeling of euphoria. It’s more like an asthmatic using a rescue inhaler. Two to three puffs, and the anxiety is reduced and you can breathe easier.” He continues, talking about his other products: Do you ‘feel’ Advil working? No. You simply notice the pain relief that comes with the reduction of inflammation. I have customers tell me that sometimes they notice that CBD helps them sleep better. It’s not that CBD makes you
sleepy- it’s simply that your body needs the sleep and finds it easier to drift off when you’re not anxious or in pain.” Said Mealor, “I can talk all day about how we provide the most effective, ethically-sourced CBD on the market, but at the end of the day, I offer a 100% money back guarantee, and I haven’t had to use it yet”. Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:6-9 KJV

ife-long resident of Senoia, Ellis Crook, recently released his memoir entitled “Senoia Boy.” The Senoia Area Historical Society hosted the premier book signing of Crook's memoir on Thursday, Aug. 13, at the senior center in Senoia. “Ellis is a life-long resident of Senoia and a prominent businessman who has always loved his hometown,” said SAHS Museum Director Maureen Schuyler in a press release. Crook said he didn’t intend to write a book, but he was a typist in the Army and had been typing up old stories over the years and putting them in a notebook. “I decided to do something with it,” Crook said. He said publishing the book was a joint venture with the SAHS. All the proceeds from the book will go to the SAHS. Angela McRae edited the book. “We had a village working on it,” Crook said.

Crook said it’s about old Senoia, the jokes people would play on each other and friends. “There’s a lot of old history that goes way back,” Crook said. The first printing of 200 books has sold out. There was a line out the door to get an autographed copy of “Senoia Boy” at the event on Aug. 13. “Ellis didn't just sign his name,” Schuyler said in the release. “He wrote special notations on many of the books as he engaged in happy conversations throughout the memorable evening.” More copies of “Senoia Boy” are expected to be delivered to the Senoia Area History Museum at 6 Couch St., Senoia by Aug. 30. The museum is open Fridays and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Once you purchase your book, stop by Crook's Marketplace at Broad Street and Highway 16 in Senoia, and Crook will sign it for you. “Senoia Boy” is also available on www.amazon.com .

Rotary Club of Senoia feeds the heroes
PHOTO COURTESY ROTARY CLUB OF SENOIA
On Aug. 22, the Rotary Club of Senoia partnered with the local Feeding the Heroes organization to show appreciation to the first responders of Coweta County who serve the Senoia area. The event was held in downtown Senoia and meals were delivered to five area fire stations where the ones on duty could not leave their posts. Around 50 officers and firefighters of the Coweta County sheriff and fire departments, as well as officers of the city of Senoia, were fed a delicious meal prepared freshly at the site. The Rotary Club of Senoia expressed thanks to all local first responders, the city of Senoia, Feeding the Heroes — a nonprofit which has fed thousands of veterans and first responders in Georgia, Operation Tackle Box — a nonprofit that serves combat veterans, and to Jules and Brian Orme of Jacob’s Table in Senoia.
